What Puts Humans Above Other Animals In The Food Chain?

Meaning, what do you think is instilled in human beings that is not in other creatures.

What has allowed us to advance to be as large and sophisticated as we are today?

i.e. Our drive to complete things in the minimal amount of time, or our need to grow.

Discuss. It is a question that has been on my mind for some time now, and I'd like the opinions from the SFA people on Sythe.

Humans have the largest cerebrum out of any animals on the earth.
Primates have a very similar structure to humans, however are not quite as sophisticated.

Animals such as rats have almost none, and instead their brain is capable of mainly instinctual reactions, whereas our brains and higher order species are capable of more complex tasks.

    That is simply it.

As for how it got to this stage, evolution is your answer.

I think because we pretty much are. I mean, you're a predator. Theres really not an animal out there that a human can't kill. The food chain is in order of who kills and eats what usually.

Thought. Nothing else. We live and die and our cells stop dividing at a certain point.

Guns. Or weapons of any sort. What separates us from animals is our ability to improvise.

We're highly advanced in everything really, us humans are animals to just smarter then any other animal, we can communicate in many ways. Make tools, we control mostly everything except mother nature.

Intelligence, that's it. We're definitely not the strongest or fastest creature in the jungle, but we can interact with our world better then any other creature.

The collapses of atoms taking place in your frontal lobe
every time you begin to think. The neurons here actually contain collapses of
subatomic particles, in which the bonds that make up the fabric of space and time are being broken down and reassembled.
This is the supposed origin of our uncanny ability to think and apply logic.
This is what separates us from beasts and otherwise, as well as what has given us dominion over the planet.

Humans are able to communicate with each other, and are more intelligent than everything else. They are capable of making the logical decision of growing things to kill, instead of just killing them outright.

IMO, if aliens ever invaded the earth, humans would come in with aa guns and a few missile launchers and kill them all before lunchtime.

    ???
You're not making any sense! Atoms (or subatomic particles) don't "collapse" in our frontal lobes, neurons contain subatomic particles because atoms are composed of them. What you said vaguely sounds like virtual particles, but judging from the previous contents of your post it seems like you actually have no idea what you're talking about. Or, you're being very unclear about it and should try explaining again. also, stop bumping months old threads unless you have really good replies

On topic: In addition to the already mentioned intelligence, we've developed opposable thumbs. It greatly helped with fine motor skills, and allowed the use of complex tools. Use of tools and communication are the main things separating man from other predators - just think about it: our fangs are non-existent, our teeth aren't suitable for killing anything, our strength isn't that great, even when compared with other apes. We've had to rely on our intelligence, tools and other people to overcome predators that are superior in every other aspect.

    The ability to Reason.

With our intelligence, we have been able to adapt to almost any uncontrollable variable, causing us to survive.

Simply as everyone else has said, it's our advanced brain functions.

I also would have to say it's our nature as well, which not surprisingly doesn't resemble an animal but more a virus. (Trying hard not to quote The Matrix XD)
But not an efficient virus, no we don't have that going for us.

There is no real difference, we have just excelled FASTER than other animals. The human race, for whatever being is an animal whom creates things allowing us to adapt more easily compared to other animals. Also, if technology would fail, we would fall down the food chain, as we as humans have no physical strength compared to other animals of our size.
