PS3 - worth a buy?

With the last gen of consoles I played 360, never had a ps3. Been pretty damn let down with every next gen game to date, so I've been thinking about picking up a PS3 to play the older games I liked without having to pay for xbox live. (I already have PS+ for the PS4)
Anyways, everyone I know tells me PSN is so hacked it's not even worth the bother. Do people still play older cods like MW2, are they playable? etc
I'm sure I could pick one up pretty cheap on black friday.

 

I would suggest you buy one if your not in for the new gen. I still ocasionally play with my Ps3 but more on the PC which is why I would suggest you do the same so you wouldn't waste as much money and you'll have a chance to play whenever you want

 

It's worth the small cost of Xbox Live to get the amenities it offers versus Playstation Network. While I agree Ps+ is superior to the free stuff Microsoft generally offers, the online experience is much better on the 360 in my opinion. There are even survey sites where you can get free XBL codes if you're that hard up for cash.

I'd definitely just go back to 360. You'd be able to play pretty much any CoD still if you did.

Playstation 3 is a system I enjoyed, but not for one second because of its multiplayer.

 

100% agree. Xbox live rarely went down or had any problems at all. And PSN.... lol.
I still have live on my 360 for some time seems how I keep forgetting to cancel the auto renewal, but I just wanted to give the ps3 a try.

 

You can probably find it cheap as hell now, so I'd recommend it, just not because of the multiplayer really.

However, there are tons of good exclusives you can enjoy on the Playstation 3. Uncharted was pretty good, Infamous was awesome, God of War..etc. Also, the thing I love about PS3 marketplace is that you can get old Playstation 1 + 2 games, that's AWESOME. Loved being able to play Final Fantasy games again on the Ps3.

How much does the Ps3 cost / how much will it cost do you think?

 

New the price in currently unreasonable. They're around ~$250. Craigslist you can grab one from 100-130 pretty easily, at least in my area.
Personally rather not pick up a second hand one so i'll wait and see if they're priced somewhere in the middle of that on black friday/cyber monday.

 

Yeah anything at about 150-175 would be fair in my opinion. For a new one that is.

You should get it if the price is right!

Lot of good exclusives to play.

 

Go for it their are a ton of great exclusives to play like the Uncharted Series, The Last of Us, and Gran Turismo.

 

Aside from the single player games, I'm going to want to play MW2 (mostly) on it as well. Has anyone played it recently? Can you even get into unmodded lobbies?

 

If you like talking to friends/the social experience, don't get a PS3. You can only send private messages to friends outside of the game you are playing, and the private message system is usually quite slow. If you want to play a game with a friend that doesn't support microphones, then you're kinda fucked.

But for next gens ps4 all the way

 

On the games side of things there's not a lot of difference apart from the exclusives xbox gets. But in terms of communication xbox is far superior.

 

If you're not interested in upgrading to Next-Gen [I'd get a PS4], then it would probably be worth it.

With Black Friday sales, and the console already rapidly dropping in price, you should find a bargain.
