Best Possible Laptop Specs For $2000?

I was considering getting a macbook for school, but as I was looking at the hardware I came to the realization that it's really not worth it. A friend of mine told me I should just dish out the two grand on parts instead and build it myself.

I'm new to putting computers together myself, and I was wondering if you guys could help me and tell me the best setup I could make with 2g's.

    Thanks in advance :D

Can you even build a laptop? Isn't the video card integrated into the motherboard...? Also, I'm pretty sure many of the parts are laptop-specific (which is why laptops are able to be so small).

Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I don't know why you would ever spend $2,000 on a laptop but...
I guess you could try to find something with an i7 and 1920 x 1080 res and a desktop-worthy video card. Maybe something like this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834220695

Just buy an alienware but if you really need it for school, try getting one that fits your needs.

If you're trying to get the best possible specs on a budget - Stay far away from alienware. Their prices are pretty bloated.

Anything with an i7 processor will run outstandingly as long as the rest of your unit can support it.

And make sure you get an extremely good (And I mean FUCKING good) cooling system to make sure you wont fry your $2k investment.
