    Jagex's networth/Profit?

I was searching for a link to the guy who threw a brick through jagex hq office and found this, Quite frankly i didn't know he would be worth half of this.

    Original link - http://mossavi.wordpress.com/2010/02/03/top-10-youngest-internet-millionaires/

Andrew Christopher Gower is a British games developer and co-founder of Jagex Ltd

    Age: 28 years old
    Project: Runescape
    Wealth: $650 million

Andrew Christopher Gower (born 2 December 1978) is a British games developer and co-founder of Jagex Ltd, the company he founded with Paul Gower and Constant Tedder. He is noted for writing MMORPG RuneScape, with the assistance of his brother, Paul Gower and also a lead developer.

Jagex Games Studio (or Jagex Ltd./Jagex Software/JAGeX) is a producer of online computer games based in Cambridge, UK. It is best known for the three versions of its RuneScape MMO, as well as for having produced the FunOrb games site and developing the ‘to be released’ MechScape MMO. Jagex has over 350 employees, with all content development, management, and customer support provided ‘in house’.

The company produces games exclusively written using the Java language, its name standing for “JAva Gaming EXperts”. It has received a number of awards for its achievements and is one of the highest profile developers in the UK.

I myself had no idea runescape was worth even half of that, Opinions,Thoughts?

This looks like personal wealth, no?

Mark Zuckerberg is listed as only having $700m.

People who do things on the computer that alot of people use will get rich. Look at Bill Gates and Steve Jobs. Granted this is a game, but same concept but with smaller numbers.

I wouldn't doubt this, actually. At one point, they had 1 million members (or was that they just hit their one millionth member? whatever). That's $5 a month, from a lot of people. They've been collecting this money for the last 10 years now, too. Not to mention the ads they have on their site for free to play members, which undoubtedly brings in quite the profit.

All they have to pay for is all of their servers, and pay employees. As well as the location of their offices. The profit JaGeX rolls in is just frightening.

Actually, Facebook is valued at around 50 billion now. That doesn't mean he has 50B my guess is somewhere around 5 billion.

I read a few days ago in the paper Mark Zuckerberg was worth 14B obviously from all the different numbers no one really knows :O I thought Gower was only worth about 400m but I guess with membership + ads and a few personal investments on the side he could be worth that much.

that's a lot of money. I'm kinda jealous, but I kinda don't care. It sucks that people can make all that money just by pecking on a keyboard all day

Just think of how many people pay 6$ a month to play this game i mean there was a million votes now some of those are people that made accounts to vote and some f2p but lets say half are members thats 3,000,000$ just this month and they've been around 10 years its not easy to see how much profit they make thats all there after is profit.
