Scammer increase or just normal?

Since i been a member (bout a week or two ago) ive already bought two accounts both being recovered already. Is this normal to have this many scammers? or are they increasing? i kindly wish maybe a rare meteor strike would hit their house but thats just me.

btw i used omm's and everything to help avoid scams but still got hit. All in which took place in the market section.

anyone else get hit hard?

 

Middlemen can't prevent an account from being recovered, all they can do is ensure the delivery and payment of cash and account between the 2 users.

As for the accounts being recovered, obviously you don't buy accounts from October/November 2015 users who have 0 time invested into their accounts with their only post being that of selling an account.

Sorry for your loss, but you really have to be careful on sythe. If you haven't already, report these users to prevent other users from being scammed.

I'm really sorry you're having issues with Sythe, I'm glad that it's not causing you to end your stay, I know how frustrating it can be getting ripped off.

Ronaldo's given you some great pointers, just really make sure you check out who you're trading, especially when dealing with accounts. Account trading is probably one of the most dangerous transactions due to the potential of scamming after the sales been completed, and not just during. Really investigate the person you're trading, make sure they have a lot of vouches, especially for account trades.

A key way I used to trade was by only trading someone who had so much more to lose by being banned for scamming.

 

Yeah, you should never buy accounts off of people not trusted; they don't have much to lose by being banned for scamming as people with ranks/vouches do. Good luck, and sorry for the inconveniences!

rule of thumb. Don't trust anyone unless their sythe account is worth more then the thing they are selling lol. I have vouches but don't let that trick you i still would tell you to not buy an account off me. Or anyone with less then atleast 5 confirmed acccount trades. Patience is key on sythe you start hhurrying or get too excited ad you'll get ripped off everytime.

 

even if they are a straight shooting person sometimes the curiousty of what you may have put on that account is too much and they take it back. You just never know. Its a black market for a reason gotta be careful.

 

Not to drop a plug here...but...I have a lot of successful account trades under my name.

 

I'll explain the market real quick, and the realities:

From MMing a ton of accounts, I can tell you the recovery rate is around 1/4. So one in every four accounts that I've MMed have been recovered, give or take. The ones that tend to be recovered more often are from people who joined less than a month ago, have no donor rank, and are selling it for cheap. In other words, if it's too good to be true, it's a scam.

Next thing is that, unfortunately, the best and fastest way to learn everything is to learn through failure. You'll get scammed, but you'll quickly learn how to prevent that in the future.

 

Buying accounts is never going to be scam-free. Eventually they'll recover it. Just a matter of time.

 

No-one's saying that all newer members are going to be scammers, just there is a higher risk with those members, simply because they haven't had the opportunity to prove there trust. I'm sure most of the members in this thread respect that you're doing well in the market, and are appreciative of the fact that you're legit. We're just making sure that the newer members know of the risks that are potentially involved with new accounts. Mostly because they're scammers with previous accounts who've been banned and are just coming back for more.

I got scammed 2 days after my first account buy, and lost 50 mil just recently. This is a rough Market and I fully suggest paying someone to level an account you own instead of buying one. Which btw ill do. And trade in methods that cant be charged back when selling on sythe.

Sorry to here about the couple of bad transactions you've had, you're not wrong about it being a rough market.

 

The way I do it, I always make it mandatory to get a hold of their real life personal contact information, confirmed their identity etc things gold sellers mostly do. That usually rules out the random children/teenage scammers.

If we are legit traders then theres no reason to hide from eachother exactly who we are. People are able to scam because of anonymity. At least, that's how I approach things.

I believe the proper mentality that should be adopted is that a purchased account can never be your main. Items of value should never be kept on it and you should be prepared to lose the account at any time. The account should be viewed and treated as disposable.

The accounts I purchase are all just helpers and resource gatherers for my main. I have already recieved my moneysworth out of them but should any of them be retrieved/stolen -If I could not contact or convince the owner of its return, I would cancel and chargeback my credit card all the membership ever purchased on the account, locking it indefinitely (They have to pay it all back plus a large fee, making it not worth it). And I would share the sellers name/identity/PP information etc as a scammer.

Petty vengence for something so cheap, However I am pretty confident with the people I have purchased from.

 

To be fair, an OMM/MM is pretty much useless for account trades. Yeah okay they make sure the main trade is legit, getting payment, handing over the account details etc... But then within minutes the account owner can just recover the account, or the buyer can just dispute via paypal charge back (If paid via paypal).

Best bet would just look and buy from someone with an extremely high rep, or just pay a trusted skilling service and skill your account up high enough to what you want, OR just buy the gold and skill efficiently.

 

Just avoid offers that seem too good to be true, and DEFINITELY avoid buying accounts from newcomers as they have a lot less to lose than trusted people.

 

Especially seeing as a lot of the newcomers selling accounts are vaders who sell the same account then recover it only to be banned and repeat the process.
