Botting is getting a little bit crazy?

I feel as if botting in RS seemed good at first, but now I see how much worse it made the game. With the combined efforts of goldfarmers and people botting on their mains, plus with Jagex not giving a shit about the amount of bots in their game, I feel sorry for the legit players. What do you think?

 

Everyone bots seriously, you go for a walk anywhere in Runescape; chances are you'll see a botter. If they were worried about it, they'd update their game and do something about it; but every game has its cheats and bots.

 

Yep botting has gone to far.. it's even ruining it for people like me that bot their mains and stuff when there are just no legit players anymore and thousands of people have bot armies..

 

I honestly think the game went downhill since the graphics updated a few years back.

 

Yeah it has gone far, but Jagex can take care of it... if they wanted to. So why not take advantage of it? Keep in mind i bot for fun, I'm not botting my main, I'm not botting to make money. Just for the levels.

 

It's partially botters... partially the board of directors at Jagex LTD. When andrew and paul stepped down a while ago the game was doomed. How can an investment group have players best interests in mind.

For sure.... I remember when I could make loads of money at green dragons playing legit. Now there are 15 bots waiting for 1 dragon spawn. Honestly I never cared if I saw a bot here and there because I do it now. But its the goldfarmers that really get me mad. If everyone only botted 1 account now and then it wouldnt be a problem...

 

I don;t mind, that game isn't even fun to play legit. I just bot up my stats then PK which is the only fun thing in the game anymore.

 

"They'd update their game and do something about it" Ok, Go make an update the breaks all bots forever. You think they haven't tried? Bot makers are smart enough to make work arounds for every update they make, Isn't that simple

 

People like you honestly need to get a clue. Graphics has nothing to do with the game itself, other than being a superficial trait. The game has gone downhill simply because of Jagex's inability/unwillingness to take precautions to curb the inevitable uprising of bots after the return of free trade.

The botting issue has really taken a turn for the worse, and I, for one, would love to see the issue being dealt with by Jagex, despite being a botter myself.

 

It takes the fun out of the game, who wouldn't bot if they had the choice between letting a program do the work or you?

I don't really feel bad for people that play legit, it's honestly their choice.

However, I don't like how it's wrecked the game in some ways.

 

Get rid of the goldfarmers and the game will be back to normal. Goldfarmers like gold4rs are destroying every MMO. I am actually surprised rs lasted so long before being over run by the gold farmers.

 

Personally I think jagex are going to bring down the rain soon. They've got to it's ruining the game tbh.

 

Jagex clearly cares little what happens to this game, they are just milking it for what they can. They are putting their resources into new projects like stellar dawn, 8 realms, and that transformers mmo. Runescape will soon end up like Funorb: abandoned.

I totally agree with the OP, the botting's gotten so bad that the only things I can bear to do are those that I can't bot.

 

As long as I can still make a profit off playing RuneScape, legitimately or not, I don't care what happens in the game. I do have to admit though botting is getting a little out of hand because it has become even easier for a lot of people to do it.

You know, I wonder, what is the real RS population?

If you take out all the botters. All the players that have used the black market at some point in time. How many truly legit players would you have left?

My bets on 500-2500.

 

Lol, I never thought there were that many botters, till I started botting, and realised that I've been playing with computer programs for the last 5 years.

 

There has been many bad updates. Jagex need to listen to the customer feedback more.

When the wildy originally got removed, everyone went crazy, there were riots for ages, many people quit.

We have to understand that Jagex is a company earning money, it's more or less all about the money. Whichever will earn them the most money they will do.

Obviously all this botting is bad for the legit players, but it won't too many legit players quit and stop paying memberships. However when the trade limit was removed, many people quit runescape which meant less money for Jagex.

In my personal opinion, there's obviously thousands of people (including me) who have 1 main account which is 100% legit, then have like 1 - 5 accounts that they bot on. To cut out most of these people, jagex should impose IP bans on people who continue to bot

 

Botting has always been a problem, even before the updates. I remember seeing trains of lvl 3 botters of at least 30 running from Yew to Yew in Varrock Castle many years ago. Botting has only evolved since then, but it was always a problem. There are many more programs out there now then there when I mainly played, and the ease to get them has also been increased. It is like any new thing on the market, at first only a few have it, then over time everyone seems to have it.

JaGex is only concerned with making money, they will only ban as they see fit. Every person they ban could potentially be lost revenue and with the economies of the world still recovering you have to see their decisions as purely financially motivated. What better way to generate cash flow then to change the very thing that made everyone quit? Botting and RWT will always be a problem, and theres simply nothing JaGex can do about it. Where you ban one, five more replace the fallen one. Its an unwinable battle if you want to stay in business.
