Why is RS so dead these days?

I'm not saying it IS dead but it seems more quiet nowadays.. and then I mean like empty... World 1 & 3 used to be FULL and that was in 2011. now w3 has often just 1000, and never full... Lummy used to be nearly FULL and v-square too and... ah .. it's just so dead nowadays... go there today on w3 and you see much fewer people

What happened? I have my opinions of what happened but ah, why is rs so dead these days?

And another question, what will happen to those millions of inactive accounts that haven't been logged into since like 2006-2009 and the owners have long abandoned and moved on... why does jagex let them rot away unused?

 

EoC happened, seems like a lot of people moved to 07 (myself included)

 

Yeah, 07 is a blessing and ah... EoC ofcourse... it had to be, I quit because of EOC myself but came back ONLY because of 07 :3

 

I think rs07 is the main reason for this

EoC was such a terrible move for jagex T.T but they honestly made up for it with 07. My account is one of those made way way back lol. I think it was 06? Something crazy like that.

 

You're thinking about shortterm profit here jaguar,eoc will bring more players in the long run,don't always think of your side,think of the side of an company aswell.

 

Yeah, everyone has either quit or switched to playing OSRS.

 

Training slayer is too click intensive in EoC. I'm getting pissed lol, but I'll still keep playing it because I can't train another account in 07..too little free time.

 

Exactly. I don't think it will last forever. Because there are only a few minor updates on those servers. After a while it will get boring

 

I enjoy playing 07, but I must admit that I don't enjoy it as much as I used to back in the days. Everyone who plays 07 nowadays knows every single detail about it, no noobs anymore that you can lure or mess with.
When PKing, all you get is rushed or PJ-ed. The "RS Feeling" for me is gone lol.

 

if they wouldn't have been so stupid to make it members only then it would be alive years to come as there would ALWAYS be more new players starting again and people trying.... not when they have to pay, people don't want to pay. I get that.

if they don't make it f2p also this won't last. true story.

The general interest for RuneScape has just kind of died out..
They just took to many wrong choices, which most people / players didn't like.

 

I was just in West Varrock bank ALONE for like an hour. It really is crazy how dead EOC is in most worlds..it's pretty surreal.

 

Its pretty much for both versions of the game.
I hope they can turn the wheel around or Jagex could be coming in trouble

 

Seeing as the '07 player base is on a decline, I'd have to say people simply quit. As of now, out of the 61k active players, only 28% are on OSRS. Upon release it used to be 40-50%.

 

I for one hope they don't turn the wheel around and it kills them off, for all the horrific mistakes they made as a company. (Yes I'm one of them bitter cunts from before 07 who refuses to start a new account slaving all them hours away).
