JAG - Jagex Account Guardian live!

Well, from what I've seen, I've concluded that this changes nothing about account trading accounts at all, which is a good thing for JaGeX, even though it doesn't benefit Sythe any.

Things to note:

• Since Account Hi-Jacking generally now a days involves hacking somebody's email, active accounts that are hacked by emails with JAG enabled are secure. This is assuming they don't randomly have your 5 security questions.

• Manually recovering an account (including ones you own) that have JAG on them shouldn't be hard to take JAG off of them. Since recovering accounts via the manual form involves knowing info about somebody anyways, and they recognize you as the original owner, removing JAG wouldn't be any harder than recovering the account. tl;dr: if you can recover an account, you can remove jag from it.

• Removing JAG requires either emailing JaGeX at: [email protected] or knowing the answers as well as having access to the email.

With regards to the update, I actually think Jagex have done something right for once. Account hijackings were getting ridiculous, and personally I didn't feel like my accounts were very secure even though I've taken every precaution to do so. And that fact it doesn't effect the sale of accounts on Sythe is also a great bonus!

 

Hmm, thanks for investigating this. Those phishing emails that keep going into everyones inbox can go die now.

If anything, JAG might even be able to improve account sales by removing con artists from my point of view.
