How many of them get sold without being recovered? Is it even worth buying, or should i just do it myself? How long will it take?

Would never buy an account tbh, just simply isn't worth it in any given situation.

How long do you reckon it takes to max? And how much moolah do you think it costs all together?

I bought one recently from player auctions. If it does get recovered I'll probably cry.. but since the multilog rule has been amended, I plan on just making bank with that account and transferring over money as I get it to my old main; so in the event of me getting hacked, at least I have a lot of money I made on my old main so I'm not completely out and left with nothing.

I was thinking of flipping on my old main and bossing on the maxed account; hey, flipping isn't illegal.. they just don't want you transferring money illegally so I mean I guess that's allowed ;) If it doesn't get recovered in like 2 years then I might relax and start playing it more as a main.. who knows, maybe the original owner forgot their old credit card info or IP .. maybe I'll luck out

It's a terrible idea to buy an account. You will never be able to be sure that the account will not be recovered, which means any work you put into it/wealth that you have on it can be lost at any time in addition to the money that you paid for it.

Probably a 90% chance there'll come a point where you'll never see the account or it's contents again.

I've always been an avid account buyer/collector. Before completing a purchase I make sure I thoroughly examine different factors: Where is the seller from? How old is the account? What is the sellers reputation? Is he communicative? Is he willing to give up some personal information about himself? … And many other questions before daring to place a legit offer.

This is the way I look at it:

Building your own account you invest SEVERAL HOURS and possible money into membership.

Instead of devoting your 'free time' to building up your account why not work part-time or even full time and cut out some of your pay check into the purchase of something that would take up more time than it did to make that money? If you're fortunate enough to have an above minimum wage job than this is a lot easier said than done.

In a way it's avoiding an extremely tedious task and getting down to the fun parts of this game I am tied to.

Do I feel like I've lost the sense of reward from buying these accounts? Yes, but I counter that by not buying any of my gold and working my own dynasty.

EDIT: And contrary to what people are stating, I have completed many successful account purchases where I have either sold the account or got it banned botting way back when.

What everyone else basically said. Sure you can get all previous passwords, details, etc. But that doesn't mean the owner and/or seller automatically forgets these.

Don't risk it, max your own account. A much better sense of accomplishment. :)

I find it kind of dumb that jagex gives the account to the original owner.. it almost encourages RWT. You can just sell your account for like $100.. wait a few years, say you got hacked, recover it, then sell it again.. I mean come on.. What if the person got hacked for a stupid reason (the original owner) like sharing accounts? But jagex doesn't know if it's just sharing accounts or if it's selling the account based on IPs.. I don't get it. Too bad they return the accounts to the original owner is all I'm saying. It makes me sad. I got hacked a long time ago and my parents bought my membership at the time (I was like 10) and they don't keep billing statements from that far back; so I won't get my account back

It all depends on who you buy from. Though I'm sure you'll be really paranoid and constantly 'looking over your shoulder' for the day that the account gets recovered.
