    iTunes help

So I recently got a Mac, and I had previously used our family laptop to put all my music onto my phone, which was a PC, and it was all much simpler. So after getting my Mac I realized I couldn't just simply drag music onto my phone through iTunes and let it sync the music to it. I read up on it a bit and saw that you have to first put the music on iTunes itself, then import from your iTunes onto your phone, and it just puts anything that iTunes has and your phone doesn't onto it. But I have a little problem. Previously when I added music to my phone and deleted it, it wouldn't show up on iTunes that all the music was deleted. So my iTunes says I'm like 4 GB over the available space, which I know isn't true. But when I go to import my music, it says that there isn't enough space, since it believes that I don't have enough space. I can see all the music I need to delete, but I don't know how to delete it at all. So my overall question is how do I delete music off of my phone through iTunes on a Mac?

    Thanks!

Firstly, what type of phone do you have? Is it an iPhone?

Secondly, try hard deleting the songs you wish to have deleted through iTunes itself, not through your phone.

You can highlight and hit delete on your mac, it will remove the song. As for a space error, this sounds like a frequent bug that was fixed with the last version - is your iTunes up to date?

Yes, its an iPhone. The problem is I can only get to the music after I plug my phone in, since its technically "on" my phone. Not just through iTunes.

Hmm, my iTunes was not updated on my previous laptop, so maybe after I delete these it will be done for good. Will try this in a little bit, Thanks!

    Edit:

This is what I get when I sync my phone. Notice at the top how it says 1700 something songs, but at the bottom it says a different amount. The difference is about 4 GB.

This is also what I get when I select songs and attempt to delete them. It's gray and blotted out.

I'm going to assume at this point that my only option would be to select "manually manage music and videos" on the summary tab which would delete everything on my phone and I would just have to start from scratch..?
