Legalisation of Cannibis in the US.

It is upon us, another state (Michigan) is almost fully through the legal process of medical marijuana.

This puts the US at an astounding 18 states with legal distribution of Cannibis Sativa, most strands in which are much stronger than one that a 17 year old teen will pick up at a trap house.

How do you feel that marijuana is becoming an accepted part of society again?

I for one feel that there is no more harm in getting high than there is in drinking a 12 pack of coors and getting behind the wheel.. so roll up!

I agree completely. I've done research on this, and personally have always been on the side of legalization.

There's really no reason not to. I see the few negatives, and I'm not avoiding them, but there are plenty of positives to overstate it.
    • The substantial amount of taxes that it would bring in should be an incentive enough to allow it. We're currently at a horrid economic state and reforming the war on drugs is and will be a major part in the next election.
    • Comparisons are unreal. Over 5 million people were killed directly by tobacco last year. Alcohol is also a horrible statistic. Marijuana causes no deaths directly, and very few deaths indirectly. There's a reason that "Everyone does it." It works, it's fun, it's cheap, it will never kill you, and it makes everything better. Life is easier, heartbreak is shorter, kisses are longer and everything rolls smoothly. It's not something that needs to be done in everyday life, but it's a good past time or activity.
    • Most of the arguments against the drug come from fallacious and factually uneducated mindsets set by the media's destructive standpoint on the issue. Anyone who has been even half educated on the issue correctly would see it in the proper sense. Legalize.

I'll have to fully support the legalization of Cannibis for the whole of the United States for rec use among those above 18 years of age assuming the following:
    1) Tax it like all hell
    2) Sale should be regulated (Selling as a non registered dealer still lands you the current punishment for distribution)

I do have two issues (these may be completely false; so please tell me if I'm wrong).
What would be the issue surrounding Drug Cartels after legalization? They have quite a stake in cannabis. Seems like we could land some issues there.
What would be the suggested age limit or would this be left up to states to decide?

    Edit:
"Marijuana causes no deaths directly, and very few deaths indirectly."
Cannibis products have never caused a death either directly or indirectly. The only reason this is brought up is the tests done back in the 70's or so on animals (let's lock them in airtight smoke filled rooms).

You must be on some other shit^
Because you can't get any better then weed,
And if you do, congratulations you do hard drugs,
But Marijuana should be completely decriminalized throughout the whole U.S, and should be only able to legally posses a certain amount of weight, and if you're to go over the restrictions of weight, then to be penalized,
Considering it's completely safer than alcohol x 1000.

Although I've always been for it, yesterday I smoked some "Sky" (or was it "Skye"?). It was such a stronger high than weed, and that shit's legal ...and I bought it from a gas station..
