Is this illegal? CS3 Portable

No, it's not illegal, at least as much as I know of. I've heard a bit about it since the popularity of CS2 portable. It is not marketed at adobe.com, so I can't see how it could be illegal to use for free.

I *think* that for cs2 portable, you need to have a real serial and cs2 installed.

 

the portable versions are just the original program and all the things related to it (dll's/etc.) in one .exe, with everything uneeded like help files removed to down the filesize. If it requires a serial to work then it's not exactly illegal because you'd need to buy that serial, if it does not, then there's no money going to adobe so it is illegal.

 

But wouldn't requiring a working version of cs3 be good enough since you have to have a serial for that.. if hes correct that is.

 

No, it is illegal. It was made by using a cracked version of Photoshop CS3, and creating a virtual machine for the program to run in, with its own registry. If the portable version required a serial, then it would need to write to the registry, in which case, the program is no longer portable. Unless, they are using a virtual machine, but that is not the case.

Yes, This is illegal, no matter if Adobe markets this as their own product or not.

 

i'm off to scan it, if its clean then ima try it. Cracked stuff normaly doesnt work very well,but this isnt cracked so, i'll report back when ive tryed/scaned.

 

3-v-0-m-a-ul, this software IS cracked. It's the only way it can run without asking for a serial.

ok...used it for one image but it just does the same as when i use paint.NET and photofiltre together...uninstalling now..

 

Uninstall it? Meaning you had to install it at some point? I believe that would qualify it as non-portable.

And no, paint.NET and photofiltre whatever don't even COMPARE to photoshop. Sure, they can do some of the things that photoshop can do, but no. They just fail.

 

Portable, well, I guess as in 'reduced size' version. 70mb!
