Read: Anyone know what kind of laptop I should get? Suggestions plz!

So I am looking at getting a new laptop for college. I am an art student. I need a laptop that can handle graphics well
I currently have a toshiba. I dont care the maker, just as long as it will be abel to do what I need.My friend suggested me this asus laptop

High End gaming graphics (AION)
Graphic design (college)
Run office/publisher
Handle Music + Movies

CHEAP as possible!! Price is important!

 

I wouldn't suggest that, I'd get something with an i7 in it if you want it to stay a decent laptop for awhile instead of crap in 3 months.

I'll take a look around www.newegg.com and edit my post when I find something promising.

I generally suggest HP laptops but I think they would be outside your budget.

Did a bit of searching, I don't know much about graphics cards but this seems like a decent rig (and I did a BIT of Google'ing around, and this graphics card gets compared to a $450 one, except they compare 2 of the one this laptop has with it, so I'm guessing the card is worth ~$225).

Specs on that seem to be better than the 2 laptops I have right now, and that is a good price.

I would suggest an Hp as well. Compaq is the same company. Some types of Dell's are good too. Never a Toshiba. I had one and they're full of shit hardware but a high price because everyone knows the name Toshiba and thinks "oh shiiiit it plays dvd's too like my tv lets throw bills at them. single core processor, whats that?"

Macbook is the best for everyday use, for some grown ass people you know? Finished with this insecure bout my life gaming shit. Unless it's nba2k11 but nvm that. But that's way too much if you're looking for something cheap.

edit: didnt even answer, Asus laptops are good though, i have one but it was 1.3k so...you know..

 

I would get a macbook pro. It will last a lot longer than most laptops and I've never met somebody who got one and wasn't extremely satisfied with their purchase. I'm saving up for one right now

I believe Apple has a going back to school sale every year around July-august.

 

i just paid $1300 for a toshiba satellite A660, comes with 3d screen and even plays Crysis 2 online. It runs wow flawlessly and i quite like it, its got good features like the whole background of the keyboard lights up so you can type in the dark.

Also comes with 3d glasses lol..

I'm not sure that Aion runs on mac though, i know that infiniteaion doesn't.

OH MY GOD don't get a Macbook Pro. I don't know what these people are thinking but you will over pay A LOT. You can get a better laptop for way cheaper.

If anyone on here can give you a reason as to why they think you should get a Macbook, I can give you three reasons why you shouldn't.

 

Do not buy an Apple unless you have tons of money to waste. It's honestly a complete waste. Buy any brand that has good specs for cheap and you will be a lot happier.

I have a MacBook Pro, the old big bulky silver one and I love it. I'm sure the newer ones are 42x better though...so obviously a Macbook Pro

 

Asus and Toshiba both have good high performance / gaming laptops for the price.

I don't know why this thread is full of people either hating on macs or telling you to get one. I have a macbook pro and love it, but it wouldn't be a good choice for what you're looking for.

If you want to play aion on a mac you'll have to install windows through bootcamp.

Macs definitely aren't as cheap as possible. You pay the premium for OS X. Imo buying a mac doesn't make sense unless you're doing it for the operating system, or if price isn't an important factor.

 

Well, in my opinion it's not the best for what he will be using it for. I'm not hating on macbooks, I just know you can get a better value. I wouldn't use a macbook for gaming since compatibility is a big issue with a lot of games. Plus, anything that's overpriced is something I try to stay away from. It just aggravates me that everyone telling him to get a mac can't give any reasons why and most likely doesn't know squat about computers.

dell's premier gaming laptop! it has an enlarged screen, incredible graphics and insane memory storage. I got mine as a christmas present 3 years ago, it still runs faster, has more memory storage, has better graphics and more processing power than most new high end laptops.

check one out man, Im not a fan of dell, but this computer is awesome.
