You need a GFXs card, yes.
And if you have good money and would love you see a good performance bump, get a SSD.

 

You need a GPU. I would personally change that HDD to a 1TB 7200 RPM drive or similar. 5900 RPM drive in a desktop is kind of a bad idea imo. Sound cards are unnecessary unless you have some beast ass speakers.

Also, just a thought. You can have a better performing Intel i5 2400 at roughly the same price point as that 1090T.

 

ssd's are waaay to expensive. but if you are gonna get one get a 50gig and put the os on it.

 

As said above you'll need a GPU. If you give a good price range I could possibly be of assistance in choosing one. Also, I would personally consider more RAM.

That motherboard has integrated graphics, so you don't need a graphics card for it to be a fully functioning desktop. You need one if you want to play any games though.

 

What is your price limit?

 

decent cards for $150, pretty good ones for $175+

 

I'd say low end for under $170
Mid range under $350
and High end above $350

would be more accurate.

In comparison to other cards, I would classify it as mid range. There's a reasonable number of cards that surpass it in performance and cost more than $170, and even then some very nice cards that cost more than $350 or $1000. That's just how I look at it.


In comparison, there's more expensive versions of the 6870 as well as others. There's Cards like the 6990, 580, and 570 for more than $350. And you have cheap ones like 5770, 6770, 550ti, not to mention mobile processors for less than $170.
