Is luring allowed On sythe?

Hey, I had a quick question as to whether or not luring is considered scamming on Sythe. I am not a lurer myself, just looking to get answers on this. Personally I think it is considered scamming, but, i guess ill discuss that more later.

I am pretty sure it is allowed because people sell luring guides here.

 

If you add someone selling like a Santa or something and persuade them in to the Wildy and then kill them yes it is scamming.

 

Luring is tolerated but you are not allowed to do it on fellow Sythe members.

 

Rules are so messed up. But yeah, luring is allowed. I'm not saying having luring is a bad idea, it's just that there's things that are 10x less harmful that you can get banned for on this site. Luring definitely shows that a user will attempt to scam, if anything I'd give lurers a mini-rank so people know they they ARE in fact lurers and you might end up getting scammed whether it be in a trade or in game. Luring is allowed just don't abuse it.

OT: yes you can lure, dont mind laptop luring is perfectly fine here. he is right tho about the counter luring other sythe members tho.

But what im trying to figure out is why is it allowed?

Lets say someone on here is a gambling host, and is hosting hot cold. Someone (Lets say a non-Sythe member), bets 200m on them. Then the host runs away with the bet.

In this case, wasn't the scammed victim greedy because he wanted to gamble and double his money if he won the bet. Wasn't he dumb also for betting 200m and expecting to get it back?
I am pretty sure this is referred to as scamming, and would not be tolerated both on Sythe and RS.

How is this different from when someone tells you that you will lure with them, tells you you need to drop items as bait, so has you drop stuff in Daemonheim, then his friend teleports you into a dungeon.

In both cases, the victim is apparently greedy, and stupid.

But only one of the cases is considered scamming here on Sythe.

 

You are NOT allowed to lure another sythe member, just as Laptop65 said; Nothing can be done about offsite-luring (nor does anyone care, nor is it possible to prove, really).

 

Depending on the way its perceived, if the item is being traded and it is taken from the user without consent or being paid for its not considered luring its considered scamming why would you want to lure on sythe anyways ? Luring = scamming on sythe runescape is a different subject theres no rules against it but here yes its considered scamming.

 

I never asked if I could lure and never said I have plans to lure. As you can see in my first post I even said I consider it scamming. Just clearing that up. I realize nothing can be done about off-site luring, but why does Sythe allow "luring", and even allow people to sell luring guides on here, while scamming is not allowed. Luring is scamming. Don't get why it isn't considered scamming on here.

 

And @Nerfed, so luring is considered scamming on here?
I was under the impression it is allowed.. don't people sell luring guides and things like that on here?

You can lure as long as it is not another Sythe member you are luring.

 

So another question I wanted to ask was are Sythe members allowed to sell scamming guides as long as they don't scam other Sythe members?

I thought there was a rule about off-site scamming.. does that only apply to Off-site scamming another Sythe member or Off-site scamming on runescape in general?

 

Of course you can't sell that. It'd get deleted almost instantly and you'd probably get slapped with a TWC if not a ban. Plus there's no way you could stop someone scamming a Sythe user with the guide they buy off you.

 

You can sell information about Luring if that is what you are asking, if you are talking about Luring Sythe users I'm absolutely positive it's not allowed, or tolerated.

 

Luring is allowed, just not in too much dept.

 

Why would we be allowed to sell luring guides, but not sell scamming guides, when they are the same exact thing?
Again im not trying to say I have plans to do this, just wondering why luring is considered to be in a different category than scamming.

Doesn't the same thing happen with luring guides? There is no way to stop someone from luring a Sythe member using a luring guide sold on sythe, as well.

 

That topic has been debated a lot over the last few years. Its always something that not everyone can agree on.

The general view is this - Luring is part of the game. There's no PayPal or any real life money being transferred.

 

Alright. I guess theres no point in discussing this anymore.
I just personally would consider it the same as scamming and not allow guides to be sold on here but that's not in my control.
