I got into a little conflict with a friend saying that orthodox isnt really a religion, if anyone here is of orthodox religion does anyone know how it works? He said that since there are more then one god in orthodox it's not really a true religion of only one god.
This. Orthodox is not a religion in and of itself, it's a common adjective to describe a denomination of a few different religion.
People who claim to be orthodox whatever are lying to themselves, otherwise they would be out stoning people working on a Sunday, raiding all cities that don't worship god and doing other sorts of nonsense that the old gospel says.
This was most likely a reference to Orthodox Christianity, whose members are all trinitarians. Whether this dogma is truly monotheistic is a point of contention for many; however, I would make the case that it is since God is defined as being unique, notwithstanding the absurd definition of three people in one being.
Your friend is a retard. My origins confine me as an eastern christian orthodox, but I do no partake into the practice and do not trully believe in any of the sayings of, not only this branch of christianity, but also of any religion. "Religion is a collection of cultural systems, belief systems, and worldviews that relate humanity to spirituality and, sometimes, to moral values." Star trek can be a religion if you exagerate the definition of the word "religion" to some extent. @Annex: Abusive Generalization, it's yuck.
Not really, if someone is Orthodox it means that they believe everything the bible or whatever your religion calls it is true and you must follow every word of it. This does happen to include stoning people on sundays, invading towns that don't believe what you do ECT.
