Is Jagex breaking data protection laws?

Some person got this while loading Runescape after the nuke:

And jagex seem to know that some people have the Nexus iBot installed:

"We have strong evidence that you may have purchased and used botting software in the past, specifically ibot software. "

    source

So are they sending those emails on random, gotten user email list from iBot or some other way, or how do they know that user has iBot? Do they have access to our files and are checking what we have installed, without us agreeing to any TOS that says so?

They have a list of our emails on our accounts and they're probably cross referencing them with botting websites.

According to some guy on the RSOF, they managed to get PayPal to cough up the details of most of the poeple that bought particular bots.

Pfft, 3rd party hearsay. Guy probably downloaded a keylogger and those ibot emails don't come from the usual Jagex address either

Is Jagex breaking data protection laws?

Wow wtf?? Can somebody post a link to the thread on the Runescape forums where they discuss this?? This is crazy! They must have used emails that were registered for accounts ingame to cross reference those registered on popular botting websites... I can't see PayPal coughing up payment details of people who purchased any bots in the past, that would land PayPal in some major shit.

It's legit but they only have people that use bad scripts which were already caught and emails linked to other botting sites. I believe it was about 3 months ago I was arguing to someone morons on this site about them using the same methods that forums use to find spam to find emails. It would seem I was once again right. I guess intelligence always prevails.

Can't be because I got message on one account but not the other. I logged on after the nuke with the account that didn't receive the message.
