    Not really. It's situational.

Is it okay to cheat on an Exam/Test?

Not necessarily, in some cases it really can be beneficial.

    Case in point:

For example, I graduated with a Biology Degree and plan on pursuing a graduate degree requiring a B.S. meaning I needed pretty much straight A's across the board to be a strong candidate. My finals weeks were always very stressful; back to back to back to back exams 4 days in a row, heavy material.

Let's say for example I have a World History exam sandwiched between 2 upper level biology courses that I needed to score well on in order to maintain my standings in the class. I could create a condensed cheat sheet which would eliminate the need for me to memorize facts and I could immediately snag the answers from the mnemonics/facts I wrote down on a small slip of paper that I could easily use during the exam without getting caught. I could utilize the time I would have spent studying for that exam on the upper level biology courses. I get an A in World History (cheating), and my grades in my upper level bio courses are potentially boosted because I was able to study for them for an extra X amount of hours I would have otherwise allocated to studying for World History.

Let's be serious, the knowledge I would have gained from studying World History would be 95% flushed out of my memory the weekend after finals when I'm #YOLO hammered drunk at the parties/nightclubs/bars with my friends celebrating the start of summer. As a bio major pursuing a graduate degree in the same line of study, the material I neglected to cover in World History doesn't affect me in any form or fashion. However, the A in World History boosts my AO GPA, and the increased scores from the upper bio final exams could potentially push me to the next letter grade raising my major GPA and BCPM GPA.

I've found that it actually takes more effort and planning to cheat on an exam than it does to study for it.

Depends how you cheat, unless you're going through some extremely extravagant well planned cheating scheme (For example's sake that one blockbuster a couple years back about a bunch of students breaking in and stealing the SAT), cheating is most oftentimes easier than actually learning the material, which is why people cheat.

I disagree with it and I'm glad I never got accustomed to cheating in highschool. Its very difficult to cheat in engineering. The physics components of it give you a formula sheet anyway so its all about applying those formulas to solve for your scenario. Unless you bring a pretty huge sheet explaining each scenario and the steps you need to understand it to pass. Although I say this now I did cheat on one highschool french test but I didn't plan it she just sat me next to the chart with all the answers on it.

I don't know man in my opinion it really matters on the person. I've cheated on a test, but very shortly after that I learned I could pass a test with minimal effort and makes B's.

I'll leave with this, if you cheat, it means you don't know the material. Once you get behind and fall into the world of cheating, you stay way behind and you start evolving the idea of cheating on a test into cheating in more places in life. It's really a domino effect that could suck in the long run.

I agree with defy, really if u cheat once or twice cuz of some situation that forced you to, I guess its okay in a sense. But if you make it a habit and take the easy way out for all your test and exams just because its easier then studying for it, it will be something that can stick with you for the rest of your life not only for exams but in whatever you do, you would try and find the easy way out and it will be something that will be very hard to break once your accustomed to it.

Most universities have adopted a zero tolerance for academic dishonesty, you'd be removed from school and credits will not transfer. You DO hurt others, most professors do curve and you DO adjust the final average with a immoral score.

I've never done it. It isn't victimless though, your score goes towards the averages.

I wouldn't do it. Wouldn't risk failing the class and killing my GPA + chance of grad school if I got caught. Morally not opposed to it when I'm taking two upper level chem/bio classes like Snow Patrol mentioned, sandwiched between a useless GUR. I'm here to learn science, and to get good grades in humanities.

I liked this example, it all comes down to that person specifically, I cheat because my morals support it.

I mean I guess you could say it's a victim less crime, but when you say it's not really fair to those who study hard and stuff, they get the actual benefit of knowing the material, and yes there might be a chance they never need it in their job field they choose, but still, that's knowledge they posses over you while still doing as well. As to the morality of cheating, I think if you're smart enough not to get caught, you're smart enough to pass the same test if you studied but you're just lazier.

People have a moral standard about what they will do and will not do. At the end of the day someone who cheats has a lower moral standard than someone who does not. And they will cheat in other areas of life as well.

I've never cheated simply because it's effort and I don't want to get caught, but I don't really mind when other people cheat. Some exams really are stupid and don't help with anything aside from forcing you to study so I understand the urge to cheat.

Honestly no, if you have to cheat you obviously didn't pay attention to what you learned.

If you are going to cheat you are just cheating your self out of knowledge.
