Is It Better To Buy Riot Points or Referral?

Hey all. I recently got into league and am at the point where I would like to purchase more champions but need riot points.

I browsed the forums and noticed people sell straight up Riot Points and other people sell Referrals.

My question to you all is: which is better to buy? Which will give me more points in the long run?

Most importantly: Could someone explain how exactly referrals work? What level do I need to be on my account to be eligible for referring someone?

 

idk exact numbers: but if you need IP AND RP, go with referrals.

Referrals are better, even with 150+ Refs. I calculated it.

I feel like you need to be level 20 for a full on referral purchase? I could be wrong, though.

 

You can get referral banned and all your rewards removed, I would DEFINITELY recommend buying Riot Points over referrals.

 

Refs are really good, but if you're scared of bans, go with buying RP.

 

Depends on if you want to risk losing those rewards and get referral banned. Happened to me.

 

Can I ask, how many referrals did you have? And in what sort of time frame did you accumulate them?

 

I think 10 level 10s when the system was released and ~50 level 5s in the original system. forget the time frame but it was when they were cracking down. I lost about 70% of my rewards.

 

Anything below 200 referrals and you should be good in terms of ref bans.

Referrals are NOT better. I bought 50 referrals and I got the RP + IP but after I spent it, my account was banned from doing referrals because they use bots to do them. They took away all the stuff that I bought and no refunds. You WILL get caught for botting referrals so just buy the RP

 

In my opinion, Refferals, But only if you're going to buy 150. you get more Rp, plus the extras too.
