What is the worst somebody can do with an IP address?

Just curious, as i'm willing to share an account with somebody...

 

track your general area of where you live.
Ddos you, which from my knowladge is like sending a million messages to your internet causing it to go really slow and crash. Look it up for a better understanding

But thats what they can do with an ip adress.

 

DDOSing you would probably be the worst.

 

PRORATS bascicly it allows you to use the other persons computer by controlling there mouse, keylogging their computer, and a bunch of other shit. But sharing accounts wont be a problem

 

DDoSing you, Using your IP to find you location which can help them recover a runescape account besides that nothing.

 

you can do a bunch with just an ip address. But w/e keep posting that you can't do anything

 

Then why not explain instead of being a loser about it? Most people can change their IP very easily if they have a dynamic one anyway, in the event of a DDoS

 

1. Know where you live
2. DDoS you (If they have the capabilities, it's not as easy as everyone says it is)
3. Hack you, they can run a port scanner, find an open port, then force themself in your computer, with some program. (This is VERY hard to do, and not many people know how)

If you know that somebody is able to do that, then you can probably do that yourself. just sayin....

 

If he was able to do that himself, he would at least be playing WoW (because he would have enough money from gold sales to afford $15/month). Even then... probs wouldn't be wasting his time here.

 

With enough information, people can make a recovery on your account. As long as you're not being too bland with the information you give, there shouldn't be any problem.

 

They can spoof their ip to match your for a recovery thats about it.

The question is similar to what is the worst thing that can happen when you cross the street. You could get killed, but thats unlikely to happen, as is the notion that you'll be hacked.

 

It's a LOT harder to RAT someone with just their IP than it used to be. Nowadays, it takes some serious time and skill to do it, and you probably shouldn't worry about it.

As for DDoSing you: it's relatively easy if someone has found a good DDoS toolkit to do it. The only thing to ask is: why?. There's no reason to just randomly DDoS some guy other than for shits and giggles...

Don't worry about someone knowing your IP by them sharing an account. It's really, really easy to get someone's IP. For instance, a hacked Skype client can get a person's IP... and even more. So don't worry about it with your RS account.

 

If your trusting him to share the account with you then I think you can trust him not to hack you through the i.p. (Which is pretty hard and requires a good amount of time) Honestly I wouldn't worry about it. The worst that could happen in all probability would be you make him mad and he ddoses you for 5 minutes.
