    Is it a crime?

Not at all, though there is some restriction to what is "yours".

    Is it a crime?

Why not? Let me give an example:

    A. Guy
    B. Thief

Around 9:00PM you see B. is trying to steal your car, he cut off the phone lines so you can't call the police. Which options is left? Well let B. steal your car and get away with or go and fight for it.

He means if your waiting at an airport and you see a guy stealing your wallet, will you get in trouble for beating the shit out of the guy who's stealing it. I'm not too sure...

    Is it a crime?

    It can depend.
If your fighting to keep your Marijuana which is illegal, then I'd say it is.
If you fight for freedom in a strict country, Yes.

If in a country with freedom and fighting for your property, No.

It really depends on the rules of your country.

If your Australia, Watch the Movie " The Castle". It really relates to this topic.

    Is it a crime?

why do you have to classify thief as "B" and guy as "A"? just complicates the story.

Around 9:00PM you see a thief, he is trying to steal your car, he cut off the phone lines so you can't call the police. Which options is left? Well let the thief steal your car and get away with or go and fight for it. (you didn't use the guy!!)

Anyways if it's yours i don't see why you shouldn't fight it.

Fight him ofcourse! I've been in this situation. A thief was trying to break into the garage. My parents were away, and i was alone at home. So when i heard these weird noises, i went into the garden to hear what it was. Suddenly i saw some man trying to break into the garage (where my dads Harley Davidson is parked) So i walk towards him, screamed: Hey you there! He turned around, and i hit him in the face... After two more hits i think i broke his nose, then he ran away. You should always fight for your property.

    Is it a crime?

No, self-defense law; defense of property.

So long as you use proportionate force (for example, if the thief has a gun, you may shoot him, if he has a knife you may stab him; conversely, if he has nothing, you may still kick, punch, perhaps stab him.), and use such force during the felony.

You may not however use force afterwards. You may not hunt the robber down to his home, then beat him for your property back.

Though, you must exercise discretion on proportionate force. If a kid for example is robbing you, stabbing is not proportional. Perhaps kicking the kid and bringing him down, perhaps using a baseball bat may suffice, something reasonable. If the kid has a gun however, you are allowed to shoot him.

Self-defense law is very tricky, the bountiful amount of mitigating circumstances make it impossible to give an objective answer to such a general question.

if someone wrongfully takes what is yours, i dont see why you cant take it back.

but as malakadang said... you must use proportionate force

    Is it a crime?

Strictly in the legal sense, once you pass the line of defending you/your property into just beating the shit out of somebody out of some sort of principle, then it is illegal. Self defense is perfectly legally acceptable, but if you've gotten rid of the threat and continue "defending" yourself, you're probably going to get fucked by the law.

If they attack or harm you first, you're legally allowed to "fight" him/her back in self-defense(Doesn't mean you can kill them.)

And if they cut off your phone line(an example in post3) you can always just scream, and surly another person will hear you, or it will scare away the thief.

    Is it a crime?

No, not necessarily. You can take legal rights to fight for what is yours, or even kill someone for that matter; but, only if it's actually yours. You can't just straight-up steal from someone and claim it as yours.

    Is it a crime?

I think you have the right to defend what is yours. Also you can kill for self-defense I think.(?)

    Is it a crime?

This is a very vague question.. You also didn't need to use commas in your first post.

Morally, no it is not a crime to fight for what is yours. If something is yours, you have the right to defend it. There is nothing wrong with letting someone know that something you own belongs to you, and if neccesary, taking action to make sure that thing remains in your posession.

As far as law is concerned; it depends on the circumstances. In some countries, states, etc.. What is yours can be taken from you and, as far as the law is concerned, you can't do anything about it. Likewise in some other places, you have the right to defend your property.

It's all very relative and there's no real arguement or discussion to be had here.

    Is it a crime?

i dont think so but i have heard cases of someone breaking into someone elses house and the home owner shot and killed the robber and the home owner got 3rd degree manslaughter so i think that if someone is trying to take whats yours you should fight for it even though the might not be on your side
