    [GUIDE] Making Gold Botting

I apologize if this is in the wrong section, so if it must be moved, please do so.
Furthermore, a few of these methods are probably already heard of/done, whatever, I'm just looking to put them all in one area. This guide is going to be limited to how much I've found out by myself in the past week, and it's not for everyone. I'm looking to give people a few pointers on gold management and good ways to bot *effectively*. None of these guides are something that will make you millions (well, they will, technically, so long as you're consistent, but I'm not saying you'll make like 100M in a night. This takes a little bit of thought, but very little work on your part).
Keep in mind that with gathering/killing tasks, the gold/hour will fluctuate and vary dependent on:
    A) Number of people doing the same activity, which is rampant with the on-going number of botters.
    B) Cost of items in the economy.

I must advise you to *always* check the prices of everything before embarking on *any* entrepreneurial activity.

    I. Introduction

To begin with, I've been playing Runescape since 2001, (I wasn't in the Beta) in Runescape classic. I was one of the people who played whilst the duping exploit first appeared, and like a dumb ass (I see this, now) I thought they looked retarded and didn't pick any up at drop parties. I instead picked up adamant full and what-not. I used to be around Sythe as "Xelex", writing a few scripts here and there, primarily with Kuroro's bot that he had out for a little bit, and did some mod work on Mittenz's forum. Looking back, I see that I could have made a lot of gold doing very little, but unfortunately, I'm going to have to make it all a different way, with just as much effort. I've just begun playing RS again, now in 2011, and I've had to catch up quite a bit with all of the skills. Unfortunately, this leads to ignorance on my part, but bear with me.

First, you're going to require a bot. There's Powerbot (www.powerbot.org), RSBuddy (www.rsbuddy.com, RSBot (www.rsbots.net), etc, but I'm a cheap ass, so I use RSBuddy.

Go to http://www.rsbuddy.com, and download the .jar file. Ensure that you save it for easy access. Launch the .jar file, and click the "Edit" tab, then "Accounts". Here you can type in your login and password. Don't worry, they're not going to steal it (as far as I know, for now) and it's merely used to log you back in if your script implements breaks or whatever else. There are a few other options that would be convenient to be aware of, but I'm too lazy to explain them (as there is obviously a guide on how to do this on their website already, and this is a guide on how to make gold while botting, not how to use the bot).

It helps to go to "Edit" and "Use Less CPU" so that you can run multiple bots at a time.

There are going to be PAID scripts for RS Buddy, but honestly, I don't see the point of using any of them. At the moment, there are several free scripts that get the job done just fine, but if you would like to invest in one (Runecrafting AIO seems to be promising) then it's up to you. However, I won't be evaluating/using them because I don't really see a point. I make gold just fine without them.

    II. Skills

I'll develop this as time goes on, because as I've only played for a week, now, what I know is limited to methods I used pre-2005 (during the awesome Aryan ban... >.>) and what I've learned in the past week.

At this time, you may want to get AccountStarter, which will not only run a new account through the tutorial, but randomize new bot accounts that you can use as well (it also comes with Rune Mysteries Automatic Quest Completion).

    Mining

Mining is obviously going to be a sure fire for gold. However, your main venues of profit are *heavily* restricted to how much ore you can mine *effectively*. This means that just because you can mine adamantite doesn't necessarily mean that mining adamantite is your best option. I would get DimensionicMiner (FREE, at the moment) which is complete with multiple mining locations (Dwarven Mine, Dwarven Resource Mine, Varrock East/West, etc) and has an *excellent* pathing/banking system set up. The Dwarven Resource mine *can* be effective assuming you can even find a world without a bunch of people there. However, if you can't find a decent coal location, I would restrict yourself to iron ore at Varrock East, as you can easily rake in 250 ore/hour @ 110-120gp a piece. This allows for you to run several bots independently *effectively*. Efficiency is key. A few addy/mith ore per hour as opposed to 250 iron ore/hour comes down to a matter of identifying what your highest net profit would be. If your mining isn't extremely high, chances are, mining loads of iron/coal would be preferable.

    Rune Essence
Using DimensionicMiner for Rune Essence is also profitable. Use AccountStarter to randomize an account (or complete the tutorial for an existing one) and do Rune Mysteries, which will conveniently run you back to Varrock. At this point, set your miner to mine/bank at Varrock East, and see yourself mining 100+/hour (perhaps more, I ran these tests with a level 1 miner). It's not much individually, but with several miners doing it (considering your work is literally brought down to running AccountStarter and then running DimensionicMiner) makes it profitable.

    Fletching
Fletching is a skill that is typically overlooked initially, and there are two methods I'd advocate.

    i. Flax Spinning
Flax spinning takes a bit of start up money, probably about 50kish to be reasonable. You may want to drop to method ii of this section if you don't have that much. Flax will cost you anywhere from 50-65gp each, and it's preferable to get it on the low side. However, regardless, the price of Flax and Bowstrings are proportional, so if Flax is up, bowstrings will be up, anyway. I don't advocate picking your own flax, because although you can bot for it, you can get a much higher gold/hour rate by simply buying it and relying on the net gain of roughly 100% (I am insinuating that you will double your gold each time you do this). The only negative is the fact that sometimes it takes a little bit longer to buy mass bulks of flax (for example, I buy 10-20k at a time), but is obviously quicker than picking it yourself.

For this reason, I advocate using a system in which one character buys, say, 10k flax, and has another character start spinning it. At this point, I make the same character queue another 10k whilst killing chaos druids or something. When it sells, give it to the other character. Of course, you can do this all with one character, but since you'll be spinning from Lumbridge, it's up to you whether or not you want to glory or teleport to the GE then home teleport to Lumbridge to start spinning again.

    1) Buy 1-10k Flax.
    2) Home teleport to Lumbridge.
    3) Launch Kryten Flax Spinner
    4) The bot will automatically walk to the bank on the *third* floor of the castle, withdraw your flax, go down to the second floor, spin it, go back upstairs, bank it, and repeat.
    5) Profit.

Right now, flax is 65gp each, and bowstrings are 135gp each. Leave it running for 10 hours, and you can knock out about 10k flax. 1.3 million doing nothing. It's roughly 130k an hour, and it's nothing to scoff at, really. On top of that, you'll get some hefty crafting levels.

    ii. Headless Arrows

I'm a fan of arrowheads. This is because shafts run you about 3gp, and the feathers 12gp. Buy these in bulk, roughly 15k of each, and you're looking at a 40% profit. The only drawback is how long it takes for them to be purchased, so just make sure you buy in bulk on the GE at a decent time.

    1) Buy feathers/arrow shafts in multiples of 15.
    2) Launch Extreme Fletcher
    3) Choose Assemble, and pick Headless Arrows, ensuring that you have the feathers and shafts in your inventory.
    4) Profit

This will not only give you a 40% profit of whatever you invest, but it will also give you a decent amount of fletching experience. It's nothing extraordinary, as it's only 5xp an attachment (significantly less than bowstrings) but the return is decent for little work done. I do not advise buying logs, as they take a while to cut (although you can get a greater return on your investment) and this makes it infeasible to do that preliminary step.

iii. Why not Yew Longs/Magic Longs?
I've noticed that the profits from yew/magic longs tends to be a bit small, and requires you to have a decent pre-requisite level in Fletching before it being even a possibility. I'm not saying that yew/magic longs are a bad way to make gold, but not everyone can do it. I don't have any experience doing them since pre-2005, and I've seen the prices only drop more. It would appear that magic longs would be worthwhile, and Extreme Fletcher would handle assembling the bows rather well. I would *not* alch them as the nature rune causes the return to be less, and furthermore, the rate at which Magic/Yew Longs sell on the GE is rather slow, especially in bulk.

This causes me to point out a key element: FINISHED PRODUCTS SUCK.
    There's no way around it.
Even with the Amulet of Fury, the Onyx Amulet that's made prior to it costs LESS than the uncut onyx. This is saddening, yes, but the harsh reality of things.

    Combat

    i. Rock Crabs
This involves fighting rock crabs. It isn't really profitable at all, but getting a higher combat would inevitably help you get more gold for the other two methods.
    1) Purchase Camelot Teletabs (20 would be a decent amount) and any edible food, in your inventory *and* banked.
    2) Launch Rock Crab Killer

This script will actually run you to Fremnik from where ever you are, kill rock crabs and eat, upon running out use your camelot teletab, withdraw any edible food from your bank, and repeat. Keep in mind this will withdraw *ANY* food. So if you're worried about your sharks, either transfer them or sell them on the GE. Honestly, lobsters do just fine for Rock Crabs. I've trained a pure to 70 strength/60 attack doing this.

    ii. Chaos Druids
To begin with, the net gain is typically ~300k/hr. This was *before* everyone started doing it, so I'm only making ~ 150k/hr (not to mention I'm using the Edgeville Resource Dungeon as opposed to the Watchtower). Since I'm only using the Edgeville Resource Dungeon, that's the area I'll discuss.

If you don't have 10 dungeoneering, I recommend going to Daemonheim and running ProDungeon. It should only take about an hour and takes little to no effort on your part. Set complexity to 1 (as that's all you'll have unlocked at level 1) and let it run for a bit.

Upon reaching 10 dungeoneering, get Ultimate Druids. Grab a *few* lobsters (gauge how many you'll need. You don't want to bring a *TON* as your bot will eat the food to make room in your inventory, but by the same token, you don't want to end up with no food and have it auto log out so that you don't die). Set up the bot to use any specials if possible and to eat at whatever percentage. Upon running it, the bot will leave Edgeville Bank, run to the Chaos Druids, and kill them. You can select to either have the bot use amulets of glory to teleport back to Edgeville, or run back. I prefer to have it run back as it saves me from worrying about it from logging out from running out of glory charges. This is also the reason my gold/hour is slightly less than what I expect most people are getting. The script has multiple locations, and I'll leave it to your discretion which to use. Keep in mind that the bot prioritizes what herbs are considered valuable, and will automatically loot the best candidates. If you don't want it to loot certain things, feel free to remove them in the "Loot" option.

    iii. Frost Dragon Killer
(I don't quite yet have 85 dungeoneering yet, supposedly yields 2m+, will update at a later date)

    Woodcutting

    i. Yews

    ii. Why not Magics?
Magic logs have a very limited number of respawn locations, and even with my powercutter with 90 woodcutting, I find magics to be *very* slow. Depending on how many people are cutting the same magic tree, it's almost pointless. A dragon hatchet increases the rate by 15% compared to the rune hatchet, but still, it is *VERY* slow. I've gotten parses that are significantly higher spamming yews (which tend to be closer to banks) as opposed to cutting magics, which tend to not be so close to banks, overcrowded, and take forever to cut. However, if this is the route you'd like to take, knock yourself out.

    IV. A Plea for Help
Perhaps if I come across something really good, I'll make paid guides, but all I'm asking for really is that people go here:
    http://www.youtube.com/user/DeltaCommunityCU#p/c/3/_4ZW1vnqSpg
And click "Like" on the video to help me get scholarship money (the video with the most likes gets $5000). I know it sucks, but the help would be *much* appreciated*

I highly suggest mentioning scripts like the neXus products, these are the safest and nearly flawless.

I'll probably looking into neXus scripts, I'm liking the feeds I've seen of them, but as I haven't personally used them, I'm refraining from mentioning them, hehe.
