    Bankers bonuses.

There is a lot of controversy and debate about the large bonuses that Bankers in the UK recieve and whether or not they are justified. I'm curious to know what you guys think about them!

Basically, bankers earn a lot of money and often recieve extremely large bonuses on top of these wages. Since the recession (which most people blame bankers for), these bonuses have continued to roll out regardless of whether or not bankers have failed or succeeded in their jobs. There are bankers working for banks which almost went bust and had to be bailed out by the Government in the UK who are still getting their bonuses. A lot of people disagree with this and think that these bonuses need to be curbed. If you need to know anymore, google should tell you all you need to know.

Do you have some sort of a link towards this situation? Or can you post a little more about it? Just so the people that don't live in the UK can discuss this too? :)

I want to see an actual, factual article about the situation.
But this is the first time I've heard of a situation like this one.

In my opinion for sure bankers should have bonuses if the company is performing well. however not to the ridicuous scale that they are today. The guy from Lloyds got like £14 million 2 years ago or something like that

And for the guys not from the UK top banker bonuses are like £10 Million plus a year. Ill try find a link and slip it in this post :D

I would say that the United Kingdom is not currently in a recession. According to the job standards and average annual income, the UK is doing quite well. This was January of 2011, so if anyone can find a trend that matches this, I may be incorrect.

I don't want to comment fully because I do not understand the complete situation, but I was watching the Prime Minister (I think) give a speech last night after the debate.

I feel if the economy is doing good and the bonuses are justified then it is fine. But if it is like the bonuses American corporations were handing out a while back it is not good. But like I said I do not fully understand the situation.

    Thanks :)

Well, the thing is, banks are very selfish. The have all our money, and they make a load of money, lending our money out. Sure, they give us interest, but that's crap compared to the cash they make.

I seriously want to teach these greedy guys a lesson. Imagine if everyone wanted to take out there money from the bank at the exact same time, that'd give them some grief.

You do realise that in England we are in a recession, and these ridiculous bonus' aren't needed.

For instance, the banks do MOST people no good, making everything take ages, for instance I have to wait 21 days before I can get MY OWN money if I make a withdrawal over £5000. It's silly, they can't keep up with things, have ridiculously low interest rates, constantly are going bankrupt (bit ironic), but STILL manage to pay out.
