Santas and Mask

Never really long term merched before, but I have made about 50m profit off my santa and masks.

When should I sell them? I plan on buying more once they drop back low again.

 

Just check the charts and when they start going up (like mills at a time) dont sell. Once they go up lower and lower (to -100ks) start selling.

Selling when they only go up a few hundred k (after going up a few mil) doesnt always work. The other day santas went up a few mil then for a few days went up 200k or so per update. After this they went up a few mil each day to where they are now. Its really a guess. Make up your own mind. No one else knows regardless of what they tell you.

 

With the mask and santa market I prefer to keep them a few days / weeks before I resell. They always tend to rise and over longer periods of time and you gain much more profit then you would flipping once or twice a day because prices drop at different times of the day. Be sure to keep up with the charts and price updates though, always be ready to sell.

 

Sell them when they hit around 110M or so. Trust me I've been selling/buying santas for ages. They won't go past 120M, not sure where they're gonna stop, but with chessy's santas out of the game people are hoarding.

 

Yesterday I sold my green mask and bought a santa, bad move?

 

It seems that both Green (dont know about the other colours) masks and santas are starting to drop a bit now. If they drop back they'll be sure to go up again so not a big problem if you're holding or wanting to buy. With regards to santas going over 120m. It could happen if phats keep going up. Most people won't be able to afford a phat so will look to the cheaper option of a mask or santa and with GP being as inflated as it is they will have more and be willing to spend more cash on them.

 

Well.. Last year they were 12-24m.

Their all about 100m ea now.

Keep them.. they will drop then rise again, big time.

 

The lowest they were in 2010 was in Jan at around 32m and the highest was around 115-120 in July.

I just bought a red mask for 190m. Idc whether they rise/go down. I'm planning on holding onto it for a year or two until they hit the big bucks.

 

With free trade I would guess that they will never go below 75m (santa and green mask). In both the short and long term all rares should be trending upwards.

No they wont.

They wont drop significantly more at all.

Its simple demand and supply. They are a discontinued item, where as players entering the Runescape market are increasing daily - hence causing the demand for these rares to go up; as supply is limited and has ceased.

The price can ONLY go up long term, unless Jagex introduces a way to acquire these items, other than buying them of players.

 

you clearly have no rare trading experience, that's the most common misconception there is, rares actually tend to fall around there holiday period, due to people buying them up then panic selling them on the holiday because they noticed there not going up.

 

^ In 04 and 05 and possibly 06 the price would rise significantly during xmas/halloween. I think people caught onto this causing the opposite to happen nowdays.
