Iran's Ahmadinejad: Sept. 11 attacks a 'big lie'

TEHRAN, Iran – Iran's hard-line President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Saturday called the official version of the Sept. 11 attacks a "big lie" used by the U.S. as an excuse for the war on terror, state media reported.

Ahmadinejad's comments, made during an address to Intelligence Ministry staff, come amid escalating tensions between the West and Tehran over its disputed nuclear program. They show that Iran has no intention of toning itself down even with tighter sanctions looming because of its refusal to halt uranium enrichment.

"September 11 was a big lie and a pretext for the war on terror and a prelude to invading Afghanistan," Ahmadinejad was quoted as saying by state TV. He called the attacks a "complicated intelligence scenario and act."

The Iranian president has questioned the official U.S. version of the Sept. 11 attacks before, but this is the first time he ventured to label it a "big lie."

In 2007, New York officials rejected Ahmadinejad's request to visit the World Trade Center site while he was in the city for a U.N. meeting. The president also sparked an uproar when he said during a lecture in New York that the causes and conditions that led to the attacks, as well as who orchestrated them, still need to be examined.

At the time, he also told Iranian state TV the attacks were "a result of mismanaging and inhumane managing of the world by the U.S," and that Washington was using Sept. 11 as an excuse to attack others.

He has also questioned the Sept. 11 death toll of around 3,000, claiming the Americans never published the victims' names.

On the 2007 anniversary of the attacks, the names of 2,750 victims killed in New York were read aloud at a memorial ceremony.

"Mr. President" doesn't know anything. At least that's how I feel, think about it. The president gets replaced every 4 years. Why would they instill crazy amounts of information to someone who will be leaving you soon. If the president was to know all about "what really" happened. That means every 4 years "they" and I say they because I don't know who they are or where they are. They would have to brief a new president every 4 years about previous events, then debrief them, and monitor they every move for the rest of their life...with the threat of them still being able to release information that they feel the public shouldn't know.

The president is just a person America can put a face to. "ok, that guy is in control of us" The president is there for him to take the hits, the applause, etc. . .There's most definitely people behind the scenes who really make the shit happen. The president knows as much as they want him to know. Oh yea and what I said about the president before also goes for his cabinet because that shit changes every 4 years also.

As for the explosions people heard, they could have just been the support beams buckling from the intense heat and the loss of the other beams to spread out the immense pressure of the building.

Charges could have been placed throughout the building's to make sure the building didn't collapse at an angle destroying other ones. I could really come up with potshot idea's all day...then pick one I like and elaborate off of it. They are playing on you're ignorance. OT: I am not sure if i believe him or disagree. I've read 9/11 conspiracy theories a thousand times and I'm still undecided. People have claimed that they heard additional explosions after the plane crashes and there are many other things that do not make sense about 9/11. The U.S. may have destroyed the Twin Towers and blamed it on the terrorists as an excuse to go to war, i suppose no one will ever know, you can believe one way or another.

 

I'm still undecided as well. The religion I dedicated my life to I no longer follow because agnosticism was more realistic value. Never give yourself up to one opinion, ever.
