Waste of money unless you really care about those games. If you just want to listen to music then get a nano.

I love mine. Not only can it play music, I can go online, check my emails, facebook, play games, and sports scores. I don't know what I would do without it.

If you want a better music service + a web browser get a Zune HD, if you want a worse music service and a clumsier design + games + good internet browser get an iPod Touch.
The bottom line is if you are using it mainly for music get a Zune.

    this.
Personally, I'd know. I got about 260 dollars or so for christmas and i bought a Zune HD (16 gigs) for 220 dollars. my dad has a iphone and its pretty fun for games, but its not as good for downloading/installing music. My Zune has the basic microsoft games, and there isn't very many, but all the games last a while as they aren't making monkeys fall. There is a full racing game that includes a few hours of game play. Plus the internet has a good browser, and it has apps for facebook, twitter, and weather.
So, if you want it for games, get an iPod Touch, if you want music benefits i'd get the Zune HD.

    iPod Touch

I have one, but honestly, it's not worth it. You could buy a better MP3 device for a fraction of what the Touch costs, and the apps aren't really even worth it. They all get boring after about 30 minutes of gameplay. The only app I think is worth it is eReader, but I'm a bookworm like that. Also; jailbreaking is a stupid thing to do. It makes it crash constantly, and it nulls any warranty you have on it, the only thing I like about jailbreaking an iPod is the ability to customize your iPod interface.

So anyway, you can get the new nano with MUCH more space with be 10x more happy, because trust me; once the excitement of an extremely well-built and responsive touchscreen wears off (and the touchscreen capabilities ARE great, they really did a fantastic job on that), you're stuck with a 200 dollar disappointment.

I wouldn't go as far as endorsing a zune though. I'm not a huge fan of them, they feel cheap and bulky.

EDIT: Oh!! That reminds me, another bad thing about the iPod Touch is the fact that it's so damn slim that you forget it's in your pocket. I washed by first one because, even though I vividly remember giving my jeans a pat-down before sending them through the wash, I didn't notice my iPod was still in there until I put them on again a week later.

EDITEDIT: OHOH! Another bad thing: I HATE THE EFFING MIRRORED BACK. It scratches up within 2 days of having the iPod, it just bothers me.

I wouldn't get one just because its not worth the money, but its still the best mp3 playing device out there. I would just think there is the Zune HD coming.

I love mine, I personally think it's worth the money. The music quality isn't really anything special but the games can keep you occupied.
If you're just looking for a good device to play music on, get a Nano.

You can buy a 2nd Gen 8gb for under $150 on Craigslist, pretty good.

You probably haven't downloaded any good games.

Jailbreaking is what makes the iPod touch so great. You can get free apps, (the ones from the Apple Store, I have 50+ games including all of the latest ones such as Nazi Zombies, Rock Band, SFIV, name it, I can most likely get it). It is true that Apple will not honor your warranty if you jailbreak it. But if you restore it to default factory settings, then Apple will never know that you jailbroke it, therefore restoring your warranty, provided that no physical damage was done to it. I do like the ability to customize my iPod interface. It's pretty sweet, not why I jailbroke my iPod though.

Reckless owners do reckless things to their possessions.

    Buy a case.

NOTE: I am not an Apple fanboy. This is the only Apple product I own. I purchased a broken one and repaired it ($40 + $45 for extra parts) after hearing only good things from my friends. I absolutely love it. I just checked CL where I live, they're going for about $120 for the model I have, I would not hesitate paying that price.

If you want a complete experience in one device, get an iPod Touch (not an iTouch). If you want to listen to only music, then get a Classic, they're cheaper and hold a lot more music (although I still have space on my 8GB, I find it hard to believe people can fill a device with 30 GB of music.)

I always wondered can you get free internet on iPod touch anywhere?
Or is that only available for the iPhone.

With the iPhone, you get 3GS in which case yes, you can get internet connection in most places if you're in range within a tower. (unless you're in the desert, you will be)
With an iPod touch, you have to connect via WiFi.

I love my iPod Touch and I can't go anywhere without it. So many different apps to keep my entertained.

The negative side to the iTouch is that you need Internet connection to use a lot of the things on it.

    Hope I helped!

That is a good deal for an iPod Touch, but still not a good deal as far as MP3(4)s go, if you factor in storage and stability.

I've downloaded a great deal of games, most from the iTunes "top" list and from "top 10" youtube videos, and ended up deleted most of them because they're no longer fun (and they take up a lot of my storage). I'm sure amidst the many applications I've downloaded, ONE of them had to be a "good" game, but that never stopped them from becoming boring. One game that still gets my attention is PocketGod, but that's just because they update regularly. MyRule or something is also an OK game, but it requires an internet connection... If you have some suggestions, I'd be glad to know..

This is all IF it doesn't damage your iPod, it could be coincedence, but two of my friends decided to jailbreak, and both of their iPods fried.

I'm not going to say "WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT? I'm an awesome owner", because it's true that on occasion, accidents happen, but like I said, I have my pants a good pat-down and still found nothing

Touché, but I resent the fact that you have to spend another 20 dollars just to keep it in good condition, cosmetically, within a matter of days. Even cheap phones remain looking new-ish for at least a month.

The only reason I still touch my itouch is for the blutooth. There is more and more games going blutooth and it helps pass the time in school. It's fun when you and three other friends can play Nazi Zombies when the teacher is rambling.
