iPod nano hacking (MAY work with other versions)

So here is the first part to my ipod (Nano) hacking tutorial:

WARNING: You will MOST LIKELY fuck up your iPod a few times so if you are afraid of having

to hit that "restore" button in iTunes, this tutorial is not for you!

PART 1 - The beggining.

Download iPodWizard:

After that extract the .zip somewhere you will remmember it.

Start iPodWizard and make sure your iPod has only a tiny amount of battery power left so you

have time to do stuff in iPodWizard.



in the top left of iPodWizard click the dropdown box and set it to "iPod" then plug in your

ipod, on the right near the top it should come up with your ipod's name so then click "Load

iPod Firmware" next to the dropdown box that is set to "iPod"

DO NOT switch windows while it is loading the firmware or you will most likely screw it all

up.



After it has loaded it you should see a little picture, once you see this click "Save All"

on the righthand side of the screen. then save them all to a new folder somewhere, now the

fun part!



Edit any of those pictures you want how you want! you should be able to tell what they are

by looking at them...

RULES OF THUMB:
1. The color white is automatically transparentized by the iPod so don't use it unless you

want something to be trasnparent...
2. No need to edit EVERY picture there, just edit what you want to change.
3. DO NOT change the sizes, they MUST stay the same size!
4. Read the above.

After you have edited them to your liking go back into iPodWizard and load your ipod's

firmware again, but this time select the "Load All" button and select the fodler you saved

all of those pics in, if they don't load (You can check by clicking the drop down just above

the little picture and going through them) you will have the fun job of going through one by

one hitting "Load Bitmap" and selecting the corresponding picture




After all of that is done hit the "Write" button at the top left of ipodWizard.

You will get a popup READ IT! I cannot stress this enough! READ THAT FUCKING POPUP!

After it writes, this can take upto 10minutes but this BETA version is uberfast, just unplug

your ipod and let it laod the new images, once it is loaded enjoy your new skin!

TROUBLESHOOTING:
If for some reason it it plays a little jingle and just keeps rebooting it means something

fucked up, so just plug it in and restore it via iTunes and do the whole process again

No one said it was going to be easy...

But just for all you guys out there (and gals) that have 1.3.1 as their iPod's version and

has a nano here is a theme I made for the ipod (Based on windows Vista) all you have to do

is hit "load all" and select the "Vista iPod" folder, or you may have to do it one by one...
