Help me build a gaming pc.

Hello.
I recently made a topic here, asking about which pc I could choose better. I had the option to buy a bad computer for $900, or an even worse one for around $550. The people there told me that building my own would be alot better.

So, my question is, could someone help me build one? The games I'd like to play on it will range from RuneScape and Minecraft to Battlefield 3, and I'm wanting to record the gameplay too. My budget is approximately $900.

Okay, easy enough. Here's one build that you could improve on and customise.

From there you can downgrade/upgrade/find cheaper prices for parts as you see fit. The numbers after the parts were the price I found from the first site I found them on - I haven't gone looking for the lowest prices.

Remove SSD/Get the 60GB.
The dude above made a 1200$ build and didn't even include a PSU, so that's around 1260$
The one I recommend is 1070 and 940 without SSD.
GTX 680, the best single GPU card on the planet.

Can't list any specs right now but yeah if you assemble your own with $900 it will be way better than any retail computer at that price. Way to be smart

 

Your build is basically identical in terms of parts. It's a cooler master case, same SSD, same HDD, same CPU, same GPU, same motherboard. I don't know how you can back up an argument against my build when I clearly stated that I didn't source parts when your build is almost identical. Yes I forgot PSU, but if he sources the parts himself he could easily get my build down to $900.

 

you chose 70$ ram. and a 450$ video card, he can easily suffice for 30 dollar ram, 1600mhz, and a 670 or 7950. >_>

 

My point was that it was essentially the same parts list, and for the THIRD TIME, I did not source the cheapest prices for the parts I listed.

 

Alright well, I took a look at the parts you told me about. I also showed my cousin it, who works in a computer store. He told me an equally good setup would be this for about €653:

There's no SSD in there because according to me that's just luxury. I'll buy that later.

Now, my question will ofcourse be, will this let me play the games I mentioned without any lagg? If this is the case, I'll have money left to buy more games etc, and will this be equally good as the setup Risk it nerd mentioned, with the GeForce GTX 680 and the i5 3570K? There's only €50 difference if I take out the SSD from the setup Raptor mentioned.

I would go for an intel core over an AMD core anyday - they beat AMD in basically any price bracket. As for the video card, if you are looking for one with that kind of power, I'd lean towards an equivalent nVidia GeForce one - they are a better bet in my opinion, and look for a better brand than club3d. How much memory is in that build by the way.

 

8GB DDR3.

 

8GB is fine, but I've seen 16GB for $70 before. I still recommend a GeForce GPU. Also, I would fork out the extra for the GPU I mentioned, as it will last longer before requiring an upgrade. As for the CPU, the i5-3570k is designed with overclocking in mind, allowing for massive performance boosts.

 

I chose a GTX 680, for fact.
It was on a deal for 412$ instead of 499.99$!
He doesn't need 16GB RAM, I chose the G.Skill Ripjaws X Series which is top-notch, too, was on a sale for 25$ instead of 45$.
The SSD is better, yes, by a good amount of performance, the 830 is kind of outdated.
