    Sooo....

Currently I have a HTC Wildfire S. Its broken, had the phone for coming on 2 years now. The screen is quite unresponsive at times and if i don't hang up the phone, the screen goes black and I have to remove the battery and reset the whole phone to get it back on.

    Here's my dilemma -

My contract is up for renewal in June, I could upgrade now if i pay off the remaining balance on my contract, ~£22 a month -25%. I'm wanting a iPhone, but the iPhone 5 is a little out my price range, about £20 more than a 4s, with less data and texts. I can get a 4 s with unlimited data, unlimited texts and 1000 minutes for £31 a month.

I'm curious just how much better a iPhone 5 is, and if by the time the contract on a 4 s is up (24 months) if it'll be considered obsolete.

i can't speak for the iPhone 5 but i have the 4s and love it. Can do most of the things that the 5 can do and i like it. If you can get the 4s with unlimited everything then i would go that route.

Yeah i'm more than likely going to go with the 4 s, I just don't want the phone to be made obsolete before my contract is up and feel like an idiot when i'll have it for another year or whatever.

Also, just wanting to know that there isn't anything significant that the iPhone 5 has that the 4 s doesn't.

I just really like them, long time mac user, have a iPad which i enjoy, had many iPods in my time, just never a touch. The iPad is great but not practical for carrying around with you.

Not to mention all of the apps and games. My Wildfire S doesn't seem to support a whole ton of games :(. Free face to face calling via Face Time, the list goes on.

I guess if you enjoy the ios features, but the apple phones are quite lack luster in terms of power and features compared to what you get on the android market. At least now a-days.

How can you judge every companies phones within that market based on one phone? lol

I've owned devices on both sides, and both are fine, but I'm just saying android phones right now (in my opinion) are ahead of iphones in terms of features and power.

Picking an iphone is still solid however, I'd just recommend shopping around a bit since you do have time.

iPhone is absolutely worth it--don't buy any other type of smart phone. Oh and jailbreaking it is a MUST.

However, I'd wait till the summer. There's been rumors that a new iPhone model is coming out then. Might get lucky and find a used one, who knows...

Okay this is going a little off topic....

I don't want any phonne other than an iPhone and i won't be buying a second hand one, i'm getting a contract and all i can afford is the 4s. (Well, I can afford the 5 at a stretch, but really don't want to).

I just need to know, is it worth me being slightly more skint and having a 5 or have a couple more pounds left with a 4 s.

Personally I dislike apple and prefer android for a number of reasons I won't go over.

There's a difference between having a couple more pounds and paying almost double a month for the Iphone 5. The difference between the 4s and 5 aren't worth 20 pounds a month. Apple's marketing strategy is the customer's ability to brag about having a newer model than their friends. If you're one of those people and it bothers you that much, then go with the 5. I'm not one of those people. You could save 500 pounds in the 2 years and use it on something more useful. It sounded like you wanted the iphone for the apps, not to brag.

Yeah I know hoiw apply work like that, so you think there isn't really much difference in it?

And yeah, £500 would be a great saving as i'm going to start driving soon, that'd pay for my car :).

I don't think the difference is worth the money. Then again I don't think any new apple is worth the money, not until their value goes down after a few months or when the next model is released.

It all comes down to whether you're a show off type of guy, or you're someone that would settle with something that works. 20 pounds isn't worth it, for a slightly better phone when the old one can do almost everything the 5 can do. The things the 5 can do that the 4s can't, I doubt you'd even find a use for it.
