How do you jailbreak and ipod touch?

I am wondering how to jailbreak my 1st gen 8gb ipod touch. I am wondering the types of programs there are online. what websites do i go to? what will i need?

the jailbreak needs to let me customize my ipod layout and give me free applications. any feedback would be appreciated. thanks!

 

Youtube is the best and easiest way just type in jailbreaking itouch then enter your firmware and there is probably a tutorial.

What is your firmware version, You will be using a program called redsn0w and a downloaded version of your firmware.

i am using a website called jailbreakme.com which i found via ur recommendation on youtube. I will tell you how it goes

 

I had a Ipod Touch a few years back there was one site called blackrain I don't know if it is still around but it was a one click jailbreak.

 

Jailbreakme.com won't work for latest versions of iDevice Firmware (higher then 5). The firmware is basically like Window Vista/XP/7 for an Apple Device. I suggest downloading the latest version of redsn0w, and downloading your iPod's firmware version (found in settings->general->about) @http://www.felixbruns.de/iPod/firmware/
