    Internet Paedophiles?

So apparently there are many many cases of internet paedophiles luring 13-16 year old childern to meet them in real life. I personally think this is ridiculous. Why would you go and meet someone you met online without at least seeing them on webcam or something as a bare minimum. I get that some people are insecure and just want to be loved but meeting a complete stranger that cnviniently has everything in common with them... pure stupidity.

But maybe im being baised. What is everyones opinions?

    Internet Paedophiles?

The kids must have self esteem issues. They feel unloved or lonely irl, then along comes this smooth-talking internet hero who makes them feel good about themselves. Either that, or the pedophile actually takes his time in gaining their confidence and making them feel like they can trust them with anything. I've heard stories of some who actually take 6 or more months of talking to the kid before luring them into their homes. That type of thing really makes me sick.

I guess you can't truly understand it unless you've experienced what the kids have possibly gone through (neglect, abuse, etc.)

It sucks but it happens. Sure at our age it's obvious not to do such a thing, but as T V said, if you're having self-esteem issues and this "internet hero" boosts your self-esteem and makes you feel good, a 12 yr old might go for it.

    Plus I don't think pedophiles go after 13-16 year olds..Basically under 13.

It's not pedophilia then, as girls go through puberty between 13-16..

It's a failing on the parent's part, not the children's. The parents should be monitoring who the children are talking to, especially in such a pivotal time. Hormones are going crazy, kids want to have friends, and they usually haven't had their heart broken or their trust betrayed in a severe way so they're more trusting and gullible.

It depends. I don't care how the parent raised the child. If you're 16 and inviting yourself to random people's houses over the internet, you should know what to expect.

That could still be avoided by close parental monitoring though, just like when kids think they can handle drinking. They should know what to expect but they do it anyway.. The problem is that kids now it's potentially dangerous, but they also think they're invincible.

    Internet Paedophiles?

I have loads of internet friends, so it's a little understandable why people want to meet up with someone. But I think it's silly that little girls think they're talking to another girl or a good looking boy. Sick bastards. If I ever got my hands on one. I'd go to prison.
