FPS Trainer Announces Beta Stage, New Features

Just in time for GDC 2011, developer Play2Improve will be moving their browser-based training service, “FPS Trainer” from its Alpha phase into Beta phase. Looking to upgrade from the current 10,000 Alpha phase subscribers to a full 100,000 subscribers in Beta phase, Play2Improve will be changing a few game play mechanics, as well as functionality of services to comply with all styles of FPS player.

Using a compilation of well programed AI, and input from pro-gamers, FPS Trainer will target your needs using “graphically rich player metrics,” helping you more easily identify your personal weaknesses, so you know where your work is needed most. Testing available from basic game mechanics, such as movement and head-turning, through advanced tactics used by professionals, FPS trainer strives to be the complete solution toward your future success in the field.

Whether you prefer your FPS game play over console or PC, FPS Trainer is ready to move in the way you do, via traditional keyboard and mouse methods, or plug-and-play USB compliant handsets. Services provided over web-based provision are free-to-play, with premium packs for skill building coming soon. Existing Beta service changes are as follows:

Dedicated servers to help avoid connectivity problems and enable players to have a smoother game experience
A Play Now mode to allow players to jump straight into a game
A major graphical overhaul to add advanced lighting, animation and special effects (with the same low-spec minimum requirements)
Enhanced single-player training bots to help players practice their skills in a (relatively) safe environment
Advanced metrics to enable players to visually track their progress and increasing skills over time
New coaching assists to help with:
Accuracy by providing real-time feedback for each shot fired
A comprehensive post-match analysis mode to help players review exactly what happened in the previous game (starting with the kill-shot visualisation, or KillViz)
    Upcoming new features will include:

A full replay mode with more in-depth post-match analysis
A peer coaching framework, allowing advanced players to effectively coach novices and intermediates
Guest celebrity coaches from the professional gaming world
A smartphone app to enable players to receive more advanced real-time coaching feedback and advice as they play
Alongside the standard free version of the game, the release of the first premium content packs for FPS Trainer: FPS Trainer Tactical (for realistic team-based tactical shooters, such as Call of Duty and Counter-Strike) and FPS Trainer HD (a downloadable high definition version of the game) will shortly be announced.
During the beta period, FPS Trainer aims to build a loyal community of users (the target is 100,000 by the end of Spring 2011). Therefore, a number of new features will be added to the website to achieve this:

A rank and progression system will be designed to help players track their improvement over a longer period, though the game is primarily designed to be played in small chunks
The best players and most prominent community members will be invited to become peer coaches
A chat system will be added to help players communicate in-game
International support will be added to the www.fpstrainer.com website

tbh, I am kind of sick of the traditional first-person shooter.

sure its fun to play everyonce in a while, but i cant spend hundreds of hours on it like I used to.

A part of me feels ashamed for having grown up a little bit.

cool idea though. should be popular.

Would be good for a lot of people that need to learn how to aim in FPS games.

Use to play Combat Arms, holding a 3.08 KDR.
The amount of people that whinged, cried, hackusated and sucked was unbelievable.

This looks unique, and very promising thx for posting.
