The title says it all, I have read a lot of the tutorial on the official Java website, but I learn better in a more hands on way. If anyone would like to help me understand it a bit better it would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks, BJBaller

There are a few good, (very basic only) tutorials on www.codemasters.tk, which revolve around (very basic) game programming.

    Ebooks, people.

Herbert Schildt writes a few good books you may buy in a bookstore, and like usual ripped in to ebooks. Though, "hands-on" is the eye of the beholder. I find "hands-on" to be anything practical. Meaning, coding the examples in the book, or writing your own project is hands-on, but can be extremely boring at times.

The Sun Java documentation is basing itself around theory to make sure you understand what you're doing first. Then, it starts to move in to the core skills, and beyond that (AWT, Swing etc).

Ebooks, lol. They dont always help, there are different kind of learners I hope you know. Some people have to see it to do it, some can read it and understand, some can even hear and understand. We all comprehend things differently. So quit shouting at everyone, ive seen it in so many posts about Ebooks, NOT EVERYONE LEARNS THAT WAY!
