Increase the punishment for leaking a member of sythe's personal information

Nah @Sythe isn't going to approve this. If anything he'll probably end up decreasing the amount for the staff rule.

Anyways it's because the staff members are more likely to be targeted.

 

1 month is really short for something as serious as leaking personal info. Is that 1 month ban for leaking stuff like social media profiles?

 

So if my address gets posted on here or whatever that user will only get a month ban? Nice... that's really going to deter troublemakers.

Make it 6 months / a year even. If the personal info leaked is bad enough (to the point where you could find someone right to their doorstep) then really they should be given a perm ban and forced to pardon if they want to come back, none of this "playing the waiting game" nonsense. Providing the means to find out where someone's physical location is in the world should be considered blackhat to be honest, someone could theoretically go to someone's house and harm / even kill them if they're crazy enough.

And for those that don't see it as a big issue or whatever - feel free to leak out your own personal details, because I'm sure you'd enjoy getting SWATted or getting abusive phone calls / numerous pizza deliveries, or at least living in fear of it after having it leaked out to the Internet.

Finally, I disagree with doxing a staff member being a worse punishment than a non-staff member. Basically sets the premise that staff are worth more than a normal user on here, and people are obviously going to target high-profile normal users for trolling because they know they'll only get a month for it no matter who they are.

Provided that social media profile hasn't been posted on here or is not considered "known" information then yes I imagine it would be, it all comes under "personal information".

 

This was recently an issue but, what if someone is pursuing a banned member of the forums irl information?

Are they allowed to dox someone that's banned?

 

I have seen this done many in the past, IDK if anything has changed but this definitely should be looked into and enforced.

I agree completely. Not that I care about my info, but I don't think staff should be considered "special" if their info is leaked. Either 1 or 6 month for both.

 

I believe it should be 6-month ban at the minimum for both users and let's try to realize that we should also think about banned users being a part of this rule. It is not moral to leak anyone's information no matter what they have done as I said above.

 

I think 1 month is pretty short personally and as mentioned above, leaking personal information, especially addresses is extremely annoying and dangerous in the wrong hands.

I think this should be changed from 1 month to 3 months, leaking someone's personal information can have a huge effect on them and really shouldn't be taken lightly. The kind of people who leak this kind of information are clearly either immature or do know think before they act, two bad traits which can easily lead to them doing similar things in the future.

 

Should be at least 1 year for sythe members, also i think it shouldn't be punishable at all for scammers because if you scam someone you should expect consequences

 

A ban from the forum is a consequence, not ruining a persons life and endagering them or causing disturbance to their real life. This can lead to many bad things one of them being suicide.

It should be minimum 6 months for both, leaking someone's personal information without their consent is absolutely ridiculous and if a stronger consequence isn't enforced then what is to deter scumbags from doing so?

 

That's why you don't scam people, if they will be 100% sure that worst thing that can happen is ban on some forum that is useless to them why wouldn't they scam?

I have seen many people that have been scamming for years and only when someone finally doxed them they stopped so it's an effective solution against these scums

 

Well that's their problem isn't it, the trader knew the risks and could have gotten a middle man if they didnt trust them fully? Harrasing someone in real life or even online is illegal therefore it should not be allowed.
