With the current system, when you use a oversize signature, nothing happens, and it is up to mods to warn you and give you a infraction.

    My suggestion is:
A system is implemented where in when you try to save a oversized sig, it doesn't allow you. Powerbot has a system like this for pictures, but you could easily change this to apply for the whole signature.

    This Would Mean:

    - Mods wouldn't waste their time handling reports about oversize sigs and infracting people.

I can't see any obvious bad points.

There's no real point I see in this update.
There are not a whole lot of signature violations happening from what I'm seeing, so a complicated fix is probably not going to be worth it.

Also, any plugin/"hack" made for vBulletin is years old, and are all made for vBulletin 4.x, so they are probably not going to work without a lot of work from the admin who's going to have to make it.

    The plugin/"hack" I could find:

It takes a long time to make this work, Too long for the gain we will have from this. In my opinion.

I think if it were feasible it would've been done by now. Maybe I'm wrong.

This was suggested in the past, I believe Matthew / another admin's response on it was is that it was just too much work for too little gain. The amount of people that have oversized signatures really isn't that high. It only takes a few seconds for upper staff to edit someone's signature.

It's a built-in option in the admin control panel to restrict the maximum size of images inside signatures. But, of course, it only works on each individual image. So you can have multiple images that are each within the restricted size and still have an over-sized sig.

I'm sure there's a workaround or a hack/plugin that gives admins more advanced options on this setting, one to compensate for multiple images, but really, it'd be more work to code this hack than to just let the mods handle it. It's their job anyway, plus handling the reports and handing out infractions adds to their mod logs. There are more important things than making such an insignificant part of the mod's job a tiny bit easier.

    Like implementing a pokemon minigame.

To be honest, it really isn't that big of an issue. We're (well, I am) pretty lax about signature violations anyways so users aren't penalized unless they're doing it on purpose. Thanks anyways.
