Is there such a thing as this? (screen recorder)

Is there something that I can just plug into my laptop and it starts recording? Without using an application like hypercam etc. to do the recording.

Do you mean something like a screen recorder or a stream camcorder directly moves your video to your pc ?

 

I am not familiar with what a "stream recorder" is. What I am looking for is basically like hyper cam I guess except I wouldn't have to run any software on my laptop. So as soon as I power up my laptop, assuming I have this "device" i'm looking for, it automatically starts recording my screen without me having to open up any software and hit a start record button. Mainly I want this because I need to record long time frames of my screen (10 hours straight a day?) unless someone has any other suggestions how to do so? Right now I have Camtasia and I wouldn't imagine recording for 10 hours straight on Camtasia will be pleasant.

 

I'm honestly not sure about this one. You might look into something like an HD PVR which can be plugged into your xbox/ps3 and once the button is pressed record and automatically render hours of hd video without any lag time. I'm not sure if you could configure this to record on your pc also..? You might want to look into it. I might be totally off though
