    Transparency with GIMP help

    EDIT:

Apparently the image is working. It looks like avatars on Sythe don't support transparency I presume?

I've been trying to create an avatar, but I realized that Paint doesn't support transparency. So I went to download GIMP as it can. But what I found out that when I try to export it as a .PNG file, the transparency is gone.

Can anyone teach me how to save images and keep the transparent/alpha background?

    This is the original background.

The checkered background means it's transparent.

I know that. But when I save the image and use it as the image on my avatar, the alpha/transparent background is replaced by white.

Is there an option for alpha layer or separate layers when saving as a png? Not too sure myself, as I don't use GIMP.

The picture indeed has a transparent background. But when I set the image as my avatar, the transparency is removed. How can I fix this? Or Sythe avatars don't support transparency?

Yeah they do support transparency, it's the way you've saved it. Can you try upload it to imageshack or elsewhere, then see if it's transparent?

There's the problem: only donators can have 150*100 size. Normal members only 100*100. That's well above, so it auto resizes and will get rid of the transparency. Try reducing it to 100*100.

Also if it's above 100*100 you have to submit it to the donator's lounge sticky so they'll update it for you.

Ah alright. I'll resize it in a moment and see if that works.

I resized the image to 100x100

    But it still appears white.

Sorry, it was actually 80*80 for non-donators.

I figured that. Anyway, I solved it, so close this thread if you wish. :)
