I'll update as I finish the project. Note that all renders prior to the final render will be extremely low quality to save time

Let me know what you think, what I should change or fix, what I can do different for a better result, and/or what I could add or take away.

One thing I just noticed was the left couch feet still have the "clay" material I'm using for anything without a material. Ignore that yo

Lamp reflection on the table is too strong, and lighting on objects needs to be a little stronger. I'm liking it though and you're getting better with each project.

Sorry if it seems like I'm stalking your thread. Since there's not very many people on here that do 3D graphics such as this, you're my favorite artist to follow :)

I think the couches could use a little more detail with with modeling, and the material on the couches should be a little different.

Try using a three point lighting, it adds alot of depth to your scene. Heres a piece I did where I used a three point lighting system :
It was a piece I had to do really fast for an assignment, but you get the idea.

I'm not sure if you are, but make sure that when your placing lights into the scene that you're actually taking advantage of the Vray shadows. What I'm talking about is, make a standard 'Target Direct Light', then go to the modifier tab, under shadows, change that to 'VRay Shadows.'

Also, to give your photos realism, after you've assigned VRay as your renderer, open up the VRay tab in Render Setup(F10) and go to 'VRay :: Environment' drop down. From there, check on Global Illumination and tweak the settings until it fits your scene. From there, go over to 'Indirect Illumination' Tab and make sure thats on.

Oh, and the carpet looks like its a matte, try to avoid that if possible.

Please update this thread with changes, I love seeing progression :)

    i love stalkers.

But it's cool, and I'm glad you are because you're good at giving CnC

Anyway, the couches have what I call clay material set to them, it's what I use as default for anything that I haven't made a material for yet. It's a vray mat so it renders better than the default mat that comes when you make a shape. (I think it's also called the "force material") As for more detail, you're probably right, and I'll definitely have to remake them because I don't like how the edges came out anyway, nor the proportions of them..

Also, I've been using "vraylight" things. I've got three planar lights for the three windows in the scene, plus a "dome" light for the ceiling, but the multiplier are set really low (partly because it takes less time to gather the light cache)

The carpet also has the clay material (same with the lamp body)

If you or anyone knows how, I need to learn how to make a realistic looking lightbulb for the inside of the lamp. Right now, the lampshade material is set to self illumination, but as you can see, it doesn't give a desirable effect... sort of sticks out like a sore thumb

Self Illumination can be so weird in max. I would put an omni point light inside the lamp and tweak the settings until you have what you want. You may even consider a post process lens flare to it, but just depends on the look you're trying to achieve.

Try using regular lights with VRay shadows, it gives greeeaat quality to your lights and shadows.

I'll play with colors once the modeling is done, but I don't know how to enhance texture with ps, how would you do it?

Literally with different layer styles and pattern/texture layers I imagine, no every single detail, just the blatant ones, and lighting and whatnot.

Oh I get you, I'll see what I can do when it's ready for final touches

In the meantime, I've updated the rendering... didn't change too much this time around but it's coming along

GOD DAMNIT I got soooooo far, I made legit looking couches, added a cool flower vase all of this, and I completely forgot to save near the end because I was getting excited that it was all coming together.....

And my computer bluescreens. I need a new comp, I can't stand this shit anymore:[ I was so good about saving every so often when I started working on it again, but then I had a momentum going and it screwed me over:/

Dude, love the update. I can't wait to see a high res render. Did you sculpt the statue in the background yourself? If so, ZBrush or Mudbox?

In all honesty, no, the statue was a download. I may replace it with my own model soon, but I just wanted to fill space

Just to let you know: the statue is the only thing I didn't make myself

(Oh, and the painting wasn't painted by me either :3)

Haha I was just curious, there's nothing wrong with using other assets when creating a scene. I would recommend taking a swing at some zbrush or mudbox, its loads of fun. Seriously though, the scene is definitely coming along, good work.
