    I'm a noob at computers, upgradable?

    So, my grandparents are getting rid of their crappy dells from like 2003 or something. I don't know the models but they called me to ask if I wanted them.

    I want to know if there is anything that could be useful to put into my computer, they re paying for shipping so if there is anything at all I could take I will.

    I have this computer:

    Mostly stock specs.

    Problem #2;
    I have 3 monitors that are all VGA and VGA only adapting, problem is my computer only has one thing (Place, hole, idk I am a newfag). What can I buy to adapt more to it.

    I have tried using a converter cable (VGA-->HDMI) but it didn't work, probably because these are old monitors (2003-2005 versions).

    Any help is thanked :)

    It will depend on what graphics card you have. Most graphics cards nowadays have 2 video ports, and them some display ports. You'll need to buy some converters, and an active display port adapter. It's important that it's an active display port adapter, and not a standard one, because your graphics card will not recognize it as a third monitor.

    This is all of course if you're planning on doing the three monitors on one graphics card.

    Here is an example of the adapter I'm talking about:

    This is what I bought and it didn't work. You think that the one you posted will?

    This cable will work for the setup you plan on running. You won't be able to set it up as one DVI, one HDMI. You'll have to choose one, or the other. Since you already purchased the DVI to VGA cable, I would just suggest going with that. Also, after looking over your graphics card, it looks like you have two mini display ports. You'll need to purchase active adapters, if you would like to setup three monitors on that graphics card.

    Here is what I suggest getting:

    You'll also need two converters, since the adapter is outputted to DVI.

    This sounds like a lot, and is way more complicated than it should be, but getting three monitors on one graphics card isn't always the case.

    Good luck!

    Ok, thanks!

    (To note, I actually have 5 monitors but I don't think my computer can handle that. 3 is complicated enough lol.)
