Hmm what should I do now?

So my family recently moved to the states and got a house and stuff
And we had a gardener building our garden and stuff
and then 3 weeks ago he says his moms sick in Spain
and we haven't heard back from him
and we talked to his workers and they said he owes them money
and all our neighbors whos projects hes currently working on can't find him also
I think we already paid him for basically everything and now hes gone and we have a half finished backyard lol..
Should I wait a bit longer or contact authorities?
Is there anyway to track him or something

they dont really want to do that im not sure why :/

 

Did he specifically say what was wrong with her? It's possible that his mother could be dying, so I'm sure it's important for him to be there. It's only been 3 weeks, so just give him some more time. Contacting the police is definitely not the thing to do, at least not yet. I wouldn't worry about it right now, unless he has given you a reason to not trust him.

 

I guess. He just said she was sick, but didn't say anything about leaving until the last minute. And I guess we could wait a bit longer but my parents are kinda worried he just ran off with a ton of money.

 

If your parents are worried they can contact the police and explain the problem to them. I'm sure the police would understand their worries and if he does return they won't hold it against your parents.

Yes, give it another week or so, and if he hasn't contacted anyone. Then you need to contact the authorities. His mother could possibly be dying though, but at the same time it sounds to simple..

 

Me : I would contact the authorities, He should of at least give you the money you give him until he got back for safe keeping

Uhh.. this is real life and this is his actual business and it wasn't for the whole garden just increments.. he did my whole neighborhoods gardens..

But yeah, we're gunna wait for a bit more..

 

During the time that you are waiting, more people are getting scammed by him.

 

Why on Earth would you wait? Contact the authoritiws immediately. Prettty obvious what the guy has done.

 

Contact the authorities. Don't let him get away with it. If you do, the chances are that he'll come back and do it again to someone else.

 

Hmm, okay , I'll let my parents know. Cause this guy was really nice, he was also really religious and stuff too. But I guess we can't trust people based on that anymore :/
