[Food] Carls Jr. - El Diablo Thickburger Review

New to Carl's Jr. and Hardee's, it's the El Diablo burger. I love spicy, so I wanted to compare how spicy this was compared to McDonald's Habanero Ranch. How does it hold up? Look through my awful pictures and find out more!

Price: $6.49 for 1/3 lb, $7.49 for 1/2 lb, $8.99 for the 1/3 lb burger combo, $9.99 for the 1/2 burger combo. Crazy expensive.

Decomposing this burger:

Buns: Fine. Greasy.

Meat: 1/3 lb is a lot of meat. It's good. Bland, but good with sauce.

Bacon: Floppy, didn't add that much flavor.

Jalapenos: Actually tasted good, unlike the ones they have at the salsa bar.

Cheese: Really cheap cheese that varied from tasting good and tasting bad.

Jalapeno Poppers: Price: $2.99 for 6 of these, which makes them 50 cents each. OR you can get these at Church's chicken for $.99 for 3, making them 33 cents each. OR!! You can go to the frozen aisle and find these for $1.09 for a box of ~9-10, making them 11 cents each or so. Point is, these are really cheap popper. Ask for these on the side, or take them off and eat them. You don't want these ruining the burger.

Habanero Sauce: Really reminded me of a certain habanero ranch, but I didn't taste enough of it. It had a decent heat level, and I think it might be spicier, but all of the fat and salt and cheese made it hard to tell. I could be wrong, but I feel like it was a habanero ranch sauce.

I was surprised at how full I was after I ate this burger. I wasn't able to finish my fries by myself. That's a good thing, but the overall value of this burger is awful. Carl's Jr. items aren't the best or the cheapest. They rarely get anything right, and this wasn't a time they got it right. It's mediocre, and not a product I'd buy again at this price point.

High 3/5 because it was still good, but all of the cheap ingredients and price ruined it for me.

Don't waste your money. Get the McD version and save a buck or two. Or three.

Carls jr grosses me out with their grey patties. I pull it apart to take apart onion rings, I like the breading but not onion. There are always flecks of grey gunk on the bun, I haven't eaten there in a while.

I'm not a fan of the taste of most of their things. Their $1 chicken sandwich isn't that bad. If you don't like things smothered in sauce, Carl's Jr. isn't the place for you.

I used to hate onion too but I've grown to like it in most forms (purple onion aside).

The flecks of grey are nastiness that you'll see at any fast food place (if you're talking about inside of the burger). I have a Burger King that leaves their patties looking nasty with those weird grey chunks.

It is. Less so than the brisket burger, but this one made me feel like I was going to die right after I ate it.

It was like being ulted by Bard.

I actually have never had this one before but it doesn't look as bad as it does in these pictures if you look up some proper reviews from people who dont use a 1MP camera.

I don't have a good camera or lighting. I have a 720p webcam, a 5MP camera on my phone, and Surface 3's cameras which are both 5 MP I believe. None of them do anything justice without proper lighting.

I like unflattering pics, though.

Also, I'm too lazy to care. I do this for fun.

Side note: I noticed their chicken sandwiches have a bit of lime flavor to them.

I've been the same weight for some time now but if all goes according to plan, I'll gain some weight (not fat). I'm the opposite of a fat guy, sorry to break your heart.

Went back to carls jr today on the way home from visiting family. I asked for barbecue sauce on the side for my fries and they didn't hand me any. I ask again and she gave me 2. Drive away And apparently they added extra bbq to my burger, it was literally dripping and soaked and the meat was sliding around inside when I bet into it. So disgusting.

Everything I ate from Hardees was amazing. I'm surprised you thought the ingredients where cheap, but this probably isn't something I'd order. Currently where I live in NJ there are no Hardees but there'll be one this summer, unfortunately it's going to be 45mins away from me.

 

Carl's Jr. is known for putting a lot of sauce on their burgers, so be careful with how you word things. They're fast food employees. I ALWAYS ask for sauce after I get my order.

That's pretty cool, actually. Making your own X Y Z things is usually fun and sometimes tasty.

I just don't like it... but it's not an opinion, the ingredients are cheap-tasting and I know 100% the jalapeno poppers are essentially 7-5 cents each or less, since it's a large company.

Regardless, it's a fine place it probably takes some getting used to. Midwestern US places probably like it better, so I'll assume you're in the Midwest.
