This thread was made specifically for people who were scammed while engaging in a transaction that originated on this site.


I bring up this topic today, because recently I was scammed using "x" for a fire caping service. I valued my loss at over 300m worth of items (or more importantly, $150 USD). I filed a scammer report, and it was denied due to insufficient evidence. I will not post a link here, nor will I list the scammer's username, because I am not here to stop him from making anymore money using sythe.org (that is up to the staff). ANYWAYS...yea i'm over it now (not really), but I just want to know who else has been/is on the same boat, because I know the feeling sucks!!! Please fill out this poll, and feel free to leave a description of what happened!

I was unfortunately scammed trying to buy membership, but the member was banned. Only at the cost of 15M RSGP.

 

Someone tried to scam me. They were banned within like 30 minutes.

 

I'm wondering how many people were too lazy to post a scammer report, which lead to other people getting scammed also.

I have been scammed about 3 times; and have gotten all 3 of them banned. Always record my trades; also request PM's, etc. Always want to be safe.

 

I've been scammed once on Sythe for about 12$, got him banned. I thought it was rather petty considering he was paying me to buy his santa before free trade when everyone thought the rare prices would drop (and at that time they were).

 

I had pm's, and a picture of my account as soon as i logged on. Since their was no official trade ever made (he offered fire caping services, and never mentioned money in PM's, therefore their was no trade ever made). I guess that counts as insufficient evidence

 

I was buying a membership PIN 50/50, and the kid logged after I gave him 4m. Pretty pathetic, and I got him banned.

 

Got scammed 4 times, first two were account recoveries and I lost $35 and 137m gp , other two were only about a 15m loss but still annoying because one of them got my hard worked on pure to 11 def >:|, everyone that scammed me got banned but I didn't get anything back so I'm still annoyed.

 

Posts don't mean a lot really.
Woulda just had good evidence(picture proof etc) and a mod on at the same time.


I haven't been involved much in the market so never been scammed.

 

Had a kid scam 5m from me for an upgrade, I then simply hit the ban button and he was taken care of

 

I had a kid scam me for my account a long time ago. He also hacked my Myspace (this was back in '08, it was a big deal) that had 40k friends and wiped it clean. I'd say in total it was worth about 200$. I didn't report because I had about 5 posts and it was my fault for trusting a random kid. So I just quit. He's been banned though so it's all good.

1 1/2 years later I recovered the account. He didn't wipe it out, he actually put a little bit more money on it and had trained some of the stats. It seemed like he also tried to sell the account. But I had all the info and I added an email and everything. Lemme tell you, I'm always gonna use an MM for my trades now.

Edit: Oh and my account says Mar 2010, I actually had an account that I forgot the email/password to a long long time ago. About the same time that I got hacked.

 

In the past I just raged in real life when scammed on sythe. Recently I got scammed around $30, got the guy banned.
Weirdly someone started a scam report against me the other day, saying I had not paid them back the money they lent me. (which I had) The user is now banned for something else. Divine retribution?

 

The users that scammed me are now all banned.

 

Been scammed twice on sythe.
1 - was selling an upgrade via sms on my phone, my phone double charged, so i was out $30, instead of just $15. Then the guy said "i have to go to work" i never saw him for about 2 months, on msn i talked to him and he said "No, that was my RAT, i dont play runescape anymore, ect" i just thought fuck it.

2- Was paid 30m for lunar diplomacy, 15m up, 15m later, He was banned on sythe but i didnt even notice, stayed up till 3am finishing i quest i never got payment for.

 

Some guy scammed me for pin, I had cash on the acc I wanted to be mems, he logged in and bam gf cash. He denied trading with me, but I had his IP saved and mods banned that fag

 

Been scammed a couple of times, but have learnt from them. Every time they were banned.

 

So far I have gotten everyone banned that has scammed me. I have done around 30 trades and have been scammed twice.
I have helped alot of others though by bringing ban evaders/past scammers on new accounts/phishers etc. get banned.

• First trade ever I was pretty much an idiot and had no idea how anything worked out. I willingly went first to a guy who has ban evaded twice as I found out later. x.x
  $20 he took and logged off. I just called my credit card company and got it back. But it took a month for me to figure out I used a credit card and not my paypal.
  
• The second time I was scammed was an account recovery. Paid 20m for 9hp it got recovered a month later. Got him banned.
  
• I also had a rare name sniped from me which I paid 10m+$5.95 members but I could get at least 100m for it. I have a feeling I know who from Sythe did it but they are banned anyways so don't really care anymore.

i was so glad I read the rules first when I first joined because my first trade was a scam but I screenshot everything and kept pics

 

bought an account that was recovered* lost around 250m cash that was on it
honestly is no point in even banning him,
I will either have not enough evidence or if i get him banned he can just simply make another account, seems pointless to me

Nope, never on sythe. They always go first so nothing to worry about.
