It should be the account holders responsibility if they get their account hacked or stolen. It should be the victims responsibility if they get scammed by the spoof, because they dare not message the real MSN directly and doesn't send a PM to the staff's account. I would agree with you if he got hacked and scammed, but not being afk. This happened to me 3 times in a day, I stay afk on my MSN tons of times.

Edit: We are responsible for our MSNs getting hacked. We should NOT be responsible if we leave our accounts AFK.

    I disagree.

If Annex actually had his account set to "Away" at the time, I'd see where the trader would be suspicious. But, he didn't. He gave absolutely no indication that he wasn't there.

The more loopholes you add, the easier it is to scam. Anyway, private windows aren't even needed or expected for mill trades, as far as I know. Hence, if you believe it's a person's fault for getting scammed by a hacked MM (where the trader doesn't get a PM on sythe), then there's little difference.

In the end, leaving your MSN on like that when you know there are ways it can be abused is reckless.

Sorry Annex, nothing against you. I just don't like the precedence this sets.

No no no a good idea is this

Along with the new rule it would be like this

+ If any MM's or Staff's email is hacked then he/she is responsible for what is scammed***

    - In every Middle Man trade, the traders involved must PM the MM and have him PM them back [them pming the MM itself is to stop an advanced scam that I posted in MM private section before the hack]

    - In every Middle Man trade, the middle man must issue a statement stating the traders should view contacts by 'email addresses' (I do this all the time and say if any shit happens, it ain't my fault)

*** In official MM list we should stress that all trades should be done using the View Contacts as email address and all MMs should issue a statement stressing that in their trades (or in their PM back)

MSN convos can be edited, and runescape pictures can be edited too, therefore, we shouldn't count anything as proof.

Guys, no one should have to pay...
    Theres a simple solution,
just when you do a trade, ask the person to PM you their MSN and confirm they are going to be MMing/buying/selling something to you.
If the MSN in the PM doesnt match the MSN in the conversation,
    DONT DO THE TRADE!!!
    Thanks,

Repentless, you make a strong point, but i do not believe annex should pay back what was scammed. Your fully right when it comes to noone getting a special treatment, but it simply doesn't apply to this case.

Not because he's a moderator or anything alike, but he could not have known THAT would happen.

-It's a very new exploit that costed ME 7mill
-He did not willingly participate in ANYTHING
-The buyer/seller of whatever did NOT take full security measures. He did NOT ask for a private message, and thus is partially responsible himself.

And lastly and most importantly, annex got imposted by someone.
Yes, that's what it is. Pretending your someone who your not is called imposting. That's what was done to annex.
He didn't do ANYTHING with his msn, and someone imposted him.

You don't see anyone getting banned/held responsible for having imposters do you now?

There's a few simple solutions such as:

-Asking for a PM from the MM on sythe
-Opening a SEPERATE window with the MM of choice. Have them talk to you and confirm in there, since the mimic can't work his magic outside the private conversation.

If you follow those guidelines you WILL be fine. Not following them makes it largely your responsibility for beeing scammed, simply due to beeing careless.
If the person was actually hacked, and you WERE careful the person who was hacked should pay you back. But no sooner.

I'm sorry, but to make MM's responsible for people spoofing them is RIDICULOUS. This is an easily avoidable scam, either have the MM PM you on Sythe, display emails instead of MSN names, check chat logs, contact the MM in a 1-on-1 MSN convo. There's plenty of ways to avoid this. Let's be realistic here, people could just abuse this rule to the core, by staging spoofs. Bottom line is, you have to be a retard to hand over gold to somebody without taking the proper precautions.

    Listen up.

They NEED to be responsible because if not, they could be lying saying their MSNs are hacked; when really, in reality it's them scamming!

That is the point we are getting to people, stay on topic.
