    MSN frozen/hacked?

I can't get onto my MSN, I sent a query to Microsoft and they will reply within 24 hours. Basically don't do any trades with me. I know a lot of you reading this may think "who cares about your MSN you are a nobody" but thats not all together true. I have been MMing a lot and people that I MM for MSG me on MSN whenever they do need an MM, which is about 3-4 times a day, and this is more just a shout out to them since I obviously cant tell them, and I dont remember all of their Sythe names. Please do not trade or use me as an MM UNLESS I PM YOU! No matter what

Here is a thread showing my MSN got frozen, view post 11, I didnt think it was but I was wrong.

    Thanks for reading

    Side note:

If you do know how to un-freeze MSNS please PM me on here, would be much appreciated. Thanks

    MSN frozen/hacked?

    thanks for telling us :)

    Hi Leon,

Thank you for contacting Windows Live Messenger Technical Support. My name is Allan John and I'll be glad to assist you with your concern.

I have reviewed the information that you provided us, I understand that you are having problems with signing in to Windows Live Messenger and getting an error code 80004005. I understand how you feel about this issue. Please know that I̢۪ll be helping you with your concern.

Leon, it is possible that your contact cache folder is corrupted. You may have to verify your Windows Explorer settings if the option to “Show hidden files and foldersâ€Â is marked.

To fix this, all we have to do is to change the Windows Explorer settings. I have also included other steps that would address other probable causes just to be sure.

To do these please try the steps below:

    1. Determine what version of Windows Live Messenger is installed on the computer, and then upgrade if it is required:

    a. Visit the following Web site:

    http://spaces.msn.com/messenger-support/blog/cns!8B3F39C76A8B853F!3772.entry

    b. Determine whether you are running the latest version. Download the latest version, if it is necessary.

    2. Follow the steps below for Windows Live Messenger:

    - Change Windows Explorer settings:

    a. Right-click "Start," and then click "Explore" to open Windows Explorer.

    b. In the "Windows Explorer" window, click the "Tools" menu followed by "Folder Options." Click the "View" tab. In the Advanced settings list, check "Show hidden files and folders" and uncheck the option "Hide extensions for known file types" under "Hidden files and folders." Click "OK" to close the "Folder Options" window.

    c. In the "Windows Explorer" window, click the "View" menu followed by "Explorer bar" and make sure that the "Folders" option is checked. This will make sure that you can see the folder list on the left side of the "Windows Explorer" window.

    - Delete the Contacts Cache folder by following the steps below:

    a. Right-click "Start," click "Explore" on the short-cut menu to open the Windows Explorer window.

    b. In the Windows Explorer window, go to the "Folder" list on the left pane and navigate to the folder for your operating system:

    C:\Documents and Settings\"Your Windows logon name"\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Windows Live Contacts\"Your Windows Live Messenger e-mail address"\real\"random GUID".MeContact

Note: "Windows Logon name" is the logon name that you use to sign in to windows and "Your Windows Live Messenger email address" is the address that you use to sign in to Windows Live Messenger.

    c. Delete all the files that are in the Your Windows Live Messenger email address folder.

    d. Right-click "Start," Click "Explore" from the short-cut menu to open the Windows Explorer window.

    e. In the "Windows Explorer" window, locate the "Folder" list on the left pane, and navigate to the folder for your operating system:

    C:\Documents and Settings\"Your Windows logon name"\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Windows Live Contacts\"Your Windows Live Messenger e-mail address"

Note: "Windows Logon name" is the logon name that you use to sign in to windows and "Your Windows Live Messenger email address" is the address that you use to sign in to Windows Live Messenger.

    f. Delete the "real" and the "shadow" folders that are in the Windows Live Messenger email address folder.

    4. Try to sign in to Windows Live Messenger again.

I hope these steps resolve your concern with Windows Live Messenger. If you need further assistance, you may reach us at http://support.live.com. For self-help instructions, please visit: http://help.live.com/help.aspx?project=wl_searchv1&market=en-us
