JMods Leaving

I've seen rumours on the RSOF about Jmods quitting recently and admitting they are just toeing the company line and actually don't agree with the recent updates.

I personally saw on the Jagex Official Wiki an edit note by a Jmod cleaning up vandalism on the "Yelps" page saying that he personally didn't agree with this update but vandalising a wiki page isn't going to help much.

It also seems there are rumours of high staff turnover at Jagex, and Andrew Gower has gone completely to go start up a new company called FenResearch.



Can anyone add some insight (no pun intended) to this story? I don't know much about the backroom situation at Jagex, but boy am I interested!

Andrew has been working on Fen Research for awhile so it can't be a response to recent updates.

 

I wouldn't be surprised if over half of the original staff at Jagex only work there for the money now, not for the actual fun of the game itself.

 

Hopefully the ones in charge of wipes and RWT bans have left. Hehehe..he. :love:

 

agreeing with kmjt lol, all these new updates suck. honestly i hope that more of the gfx people left then the rwt people cause if they stop updating with bullshit i might start playing again

 

I'd leave, but chances are they make a lot of money so it depends..

 

So not only are alot of players unhappy, so are the staff. This could have good and bad effects. It all depends what role they play at Jagex e.g. graphics, marketing etc.

 

well like everyone has said players are unhappy about all these new updates that just mess up the game for players , and now i see staff is also unhappy about so this could turn into something bad for runescape .

 

I guess Andrew left Jagex because he probably knew about this update and many future updates that they plan to do, in order to generate revenue. Maybe he felt that Jagex became too big, and part of it was his mistake.

But realistically, the investors probably wanna milk the game for all they can, as they know that Jagex is releasing a new MMO this year which may become more popular.

 

But can anyone confirm these rumours? Like, do you have a list of JMods or something that left?

Yea Dowd left a while ago. There was even a goodbye thread in the General section for him right before he left.

 

This is exactly what happened with Habbo Hotel, all the MODs left and they got a whole bunch of new ones and they didn't know what they was doing and started banning all the rich people for owning in-game "Casino's" haha pretty funny. But yea Jagex have ruined RS a bit, lets just hope the new MOD's they bring in aint try hards and start banning lots of RWT's.

 

You do relise some of the Jmods are in their late 30s now and probably have had enough of sitting at the computer all day o_o..

To be honest the game was better in 2009 before free trade.

 

It was better before the end of 2007 when they removed free trade.

Don't know why people call them "jmods". They are simply employees of Jagex. Not gonna call people working in McDonald's "McMods", right?

I believe it's the innovative force - the real talent of Jagex who could get a job in any gaming studio in the world, who are the ones contemplating leaving and who can blame them?

 

It is just a day job for them, I have changed jobs 3 times now I guess they just got bored.
