    Questions on Recovering

A friend of mine shared an account with his friend but his friend stole it you know how this goes... Now he wants to get it back but he says even with the IP Address that it was created on and all the Recoveries/Email in his favor because the other person knows 3 previous passwords he can recover it back. Is this true/ is there any way to prevent this?

    Thanks so much

    Questions on Recovering

I believe that the IP is the biggest thing jagex takes into account when it comes to account recovery. If your friend's live close to each other, the likelihood is that both of them can recover the account whenever they please, but if the friends live with a significant distance between them, your friend, who knows the creation details, will have enough to recover the account, and it should stay in his possession.

    Questions on Recovering

The other person can recover, but after a few tries at it, he shouldnt be able to anymore. Also, if he contacts Jagex he can have them reset the old info for the account. As long as hes the original owner.

Yeah we're all in the same town is the problem. Any tips to keep it his even when in the same town? I'm suggesting he uses random character strings for the recovery questions and resets his own email. Anything in addition?

Thanks for the speedy replies guys.

    Questions on Recovering

So what if you have multiple IP addresses but only one ISP?

Cause my mum turns off the router every night, so it changes. But if all the IP's were under the same ISP would i be able to recover it if it happened to me?

It's a hard thing to say, because unless it's happening to you you can't add much to something like this. I for example bought an account for $800. The account was later recovered by the original owner, although EVERY single piece of information I had was correct, because my IP was on the other side of the world, I couldn't get the account back, so I lost out. I assume you're the only person who has every piece of information?

Ip = access, and knowing 3 passwords MIGHT help, but not always.
