my math is horrible

i heard you need to be smart at math to be good at computer programming. my math is horrible (my avg math % is like 65). does that mean I'd be a terrible computer programmer?

 

No. Although being good at math helps, it isn't necessary. If you are strong in other aspects like logic, abstract thinking, and problem solving, or have a great desire to learn and can do so quite efficiently then you would most likely make a good programmer with the right education and time/effort put into it.

 

It depends what field of programming you do. If you do things like 3D games development, then you'd definitely need a higher degree of Maths because of all of the things you're dealing with (incl. Angles, trajectory, vectors, cameras, positioning in the 3D world, etc).

Normal programming like what I think you might be doing doesn't require a terribly great amount of maths, but as Nullware said, it helps.

 

Well, being in jobs using Java, when i applied, i needed an A in maths.

 

Actually, you don't need to know math that good. I used to get 70-80 average in math but after I started Programming and now its 90-100

 

Learning the basics and making basic programs requires like no math ability. If you start making for complex programs you most likely will need to know higher level math.

 

Well, with bad maths you may never be pro programmer.

 

Programming can help improve your math skills and make you more interested in it.

 

Nope. Math really helps. You gotta be a fast learner.
