Brother Ive worked in a cafe as Barrista before, and I do agree with ya that this job is exhausting especially at the end of the day.
However, it was a very interesting and fun job to do tbh, u get to talk to alot of cuties on the way <3.
Also probably because Im quite active in general, I did not feel the same physical drawbacks as you did.

My advice would be if you don't feel like doing it for the next 5 years, quit now, and go find something that would be more suitable for ya. Because at the end of the day, if your not happy with what ur doing, it is not worth the money. But if it is something you really enjoy doing, my suggestion is to get better comfy sport shoes, that's what I did.

    Hope that help.

I worked for the 1st day in my life

I worked at Disney years ago as a quick service food and beverage cast member. It was all of the "What I done while being there" items you mentioned, except on steroids. You never knew where you'd be until you got the deployment assignment. You were washing EVERYTHING by hand before putting them into a giant industrial sterilizer. You were constantly being scrutinized by health officers (basically, some of the coordinator staff that got food health certified), where they would stick thermometers into your items to make sure they're at temp. If not, they'd be thrown out, even if you were in the middle of lunch rush. And then everything needed to be perfectly sterilized and wiped down throughout. As soon as someone stood up, a busser needed to clean their table to make way for another guest.

    1. The best way I found to cope with it was to go to the gym at least 3 times a day, INCLUDING a 10 minute stretch at the beginning of each gym session. This keeps your body loose, gets it used to heavy lifting faster than it would get use to the hard labor you're doing, and lets you get better sleep so you feel refreshed the next day.
    2. Second thing to make sure of is BUY PROPER SHOES. Do it. I don't care how much the cost is, you won't last in food service if you don't have proper shoes designed for standing on tile all day.
    3. Third is make friends, and try to have one of those friends be a leader. The only reason I made it through my year in Disney food service was solely because I opened up to two or three individuals and had a bit of mutual support. You don't have to be a social butterfly if you're not one, but find at least one person. Being able to vent and rant and talk shit is honestly the best remedy for a hard day's work. I'm not talking about the guy who complains about everything day in and day out, no one likes him/her. However, the kitchen is a fucking circus, and people are fucking assholes (coworkers, leaders, customers alike). If you bottle it up, you'll go crazy, so find someone you can confide your angst in.
Food service is NOT fun, its one redeeming quality is there's always something to do, so the shifts go by pretty fast. You're going to ache for a few weeks before you get used to it, but it's money that you need.

By the way, look for a store called "Shoes for Crews". They sell good quality shit for cheap. It's what I used during my internship:
Keuka - Galley - Black - Men's Non-Slip Oxford Leather Work Shoe - Shoes For Crews
Radium: Black Slip-Resistant Work Clogs | Shoes For Crews

Thanks for the reply agree with a lot with what you said, Yes an update has been due I agree so here it goes....
I've now been working there a few weeks, trust me when I tell you my feet hurt so bad I had someone come pick me up the week after as I couldn't even begin to drive.
Recently the job has been much easier in the sense that my body isn't hurting and its more routine now as I have learnt most of my job well and to a high standard along with tips and tricks to save time and effort.
Will I still work here? Realistically I plan to work there for another few months to get some experience so when I actually find a good well paying job I have a leg to stand on and not thrown out of the room before casting the interview, I have the qualifications to move on and further education I've pursued before hand to back me up for when I feel I can approach a long term job offer I'm happy with.

I’m honestly scared for our generation Jesus Christ, litterally sounds like a cake walk, I’m a block layer lay 30-70 pound block or brick all day long sometime 80 feet in the air, I wake up with a dick harder than that, sounds like you need a job behind a desk, man up

But in all seriousness really sounds like you may have some health issues because your body should not feel that way after such simple tasks

Lol, its nothing to do with health issues brother, its because we are short staffed and people are stretched to do 2-3 jobs while doing your current job, for example I'm expected to load the dishwasher and empty, take food to customers, clear tables and bring the racking where dirty plates and cups are stacked to the dishwasher and then washing them, there should be 3 people doing this job instead of 1, but hey its Christmas so lets not talk about work and enjoy the day with our families :D

Goodluck on your adventure! hope you enjoy where you're working, if you ever don't like it some day, think about it for the future and that it'll get you more paths in the future.
