    Shit..

So today a very close friend of mine burst into tears randomly, and told me and my other friend that she has cancer. I was stunned, and couldn't even think of anything to say or do for like 5 minutes. I have known people who have had cancer, but never someone this close to me. Not really sure how to handle it, but I felt like venting it here since I can't tell anyone else I know..

    Shit..

Did she say what kind/where it's located? My mother is recovering for Cervical cancer. Our family is really... no touchy, less feelings is more... but we found the best way to deal with it is to avoid the issue entirely unless there's an absolute need to discuss it. I.E. when she needs a ride to/from the ochologist for checkups because they'd drug her up 'n shit

    Shit..

I'm really sorry to hear that man... its such a shame when people so young get cancer. But hopefully that will be a good thing, as her body will be healthy enough to fight the disease to the best of its ability.

What kind of cancer is it? (if you don't mind me asking). I think in the mean time the best thing to do about it is to offer your friend your full support. I can only imagine what must be rushing through her head, and its going to be hard for her as she begins to tell people what is happening with her and she is going to need all the support and love she can get, from all of her friends and her family. My thoughts & prayers go out to her, and to you :(

    Shit..

    Action speak louder than words.

Help your friend in need, bring them to the hospital and etc. You don't necessarily have to have a conversation about the cancer everyday. Instead, find solutions rather than harping on the fact. When you seek solutions, you will see how advanced medicine has gotten over the last century and there are so many treatments out there that make life bearable. Seek these options and go for them.

    Shit..

Seeing as though she has told you, you can comfort her, talk to her about it if she wants to, make her feel better etc.

Cancer is something very hard to deal with, being there are supporting her really does make a difference.

    Shit..

Supporting her would make the world for her, dont make her feel inferior though and make it seem like you pity her, this is the tricky part, you need to be the best friend you can be. Life is priceless, luckily medicine is advancing strongly.

Yesterday, in my Probability and Statistics course we read an article about Cancer medicine, its coming very far, next year for example, a big drug fighting Breast Cancer [I believe] is going up for approval in front of the FDA, and Cancer is supposed to be eliminated by 2020, so the medicine right now is very good and she is young too, what Zerk said, her body can probably fight it better.
