    How to Decrease Lag

*If this is in the wrong section, could a Mod please move it?*

Hi, lets make this short and sweet. I'm lagging. FUCK LAG. I tried doing the holiday event and while I attempted to "collect" all of the holiday decorations in the attic - I clicked on a decoration accurately once per 10 clicks. This part of the event took me 10 tries or so before I actually got it an hour ago.

I think the reason why I lag is because my computer is older and when MSN/multiple tabs are open - it slows everything down. Yes, no? Maybe so?

    Lets hear some feedback.

Sounds like you're maxing out your RAM. Hit Ctrl + Alt + Del and go to Processes, and end some tasks that you find unnecessary.

    How to Decrease Lag

FPS Lag, a lot of people are now getting it on RS.

Search it up on the RSOF, everyone will agree that it started after the bot nuke.

On RS press the "~" key and type in displayfps and hit enter.

    How to Decrease Lag

Depends on how much RAM you have. Also, lowering your graphics detail on RS will help you.

If you havent already got Game Booster 3, get it. The program will close unneccesary programs free-ing up RAM.

Also I suggest you download and install CCleaner. Run a scan with that program with nothing else open and it will delete lots of crap from your computer.

    How to Decrease Lag

    - End unnecessary tasks
    - Allocate more memory to java
    - Update your java
    - Play on minimal settings
    - Update your graphics card driver

    It's probably server lag anyways.

    How to Decrease Lag

There are some very helpful tips in here, many of which I have started using since the bot nuke happened.

    The big ones:

    - Allocate more memory to java (check your RAM first to see how much you can)
    - Set priority for Java to "high"
    - Close all over tabs if you are lagging bad, even MSN and your internet browsers
    - Download CCleaner & delete all unnecessary junk that is slowing down your computer
    - If necessary, reduce your RS graphical settings

This isnt my personal computer, I share it with my brother and we both have a lot of school work saved on here, this may sound stupid to most of you but will any of these "tips" effect any saved work?

    How to Decrease Lag

There's a program called 'Game Booster 3' it's pretty good as it temporarily gets rid off all the crap on your PC that is running and slowing it down, it shuts everything down so the only things that are left running for for gaming. You should try it out, although it is probably RS itself, some people have reported they have slightly less lag whilst using the RS Client.

    How to Decrease Lag

You arent alone bud, but thanks to Skyrim Fanboy about the Developer's Console where at least it isnt there for nothing. But better check any programs that are open for nothing. Likewise if not using MSN or you were chatting with your friend and he gone offline or away close it. The New Windows Live Messanger even take many RAM Space but when playing RS on max graphics my comp slows down

Better check if you have a virus/trojan leeching around your computer, maybe it is affecting your computer slowing down. Hit Task Manager and go to Process and see the CPU Section of all programs if its exceeding 20+ which programs you will notify are necessary and unnecessary close them.
